A thread that hadn't been posted on in over 4 hours was pulled up and closed.

Than another thread was closed because it was A) off topic from the original post (happens in every CF thread) B) the mod thinks the topic has been talked about to much (true but why close a thread based on that)

Is this something new? Can we have a legitimate conversation (even if it does get off topic) without it being closed? Seems odd

What threads are you talking about?

Both Wayne Morgan ones. Tired and overplayed topic? Yes. But so are the countless Hawkeye ones (which are must nastier and worse names are called out) and they seem to go on for days/pages. That is my only question/concern

The WM thread was hostile nearly immediately. I haven't read the other thread yet, but I have a feeling that it will be pretty similar.

It was and that is fair. But we may as well close every Hawkeye related thread as soon as it opens. Those threads are way more hostile

Unfortunately, CycloneFanatic is a dictatorship and not a democracy. All hail our mighty ruler, Jeremy. :notworthy:

The All-Iowa Attack one was pulled, but right before it got pulled someone tried to get it back on topic.
I was really annoyed when that thread was closed, i had some input....so why are of the sudden Moderators becoming such thread-nazis?

I'd like to add that my iPod Touch thread was erased. I had two posts in it, detailing a tech problem and then my solution. Nobody else even posted in it, so there was no argument or controversy. It was done and no longer served a purpose, except for reference for future readers. Nevertheless, the fact that it was locked and moved irritates me. When other threads are no longer relevant, they are simply allowed to die, yet this one wasn't. I haven't participated in the other threads referenced here, but I would say that my experience is consistent with the rest of yours'.

Mods, I would like an explanation for why my thread was locked and moved. Thank you.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to PM a mod to get an answer to your questions of why a thread was closed? Or am I playing into the conspiracy by suggesting that communication remain private?

....and they are also played out as well.

The mod in question seems to be the one using the lock option moreso than most.

The only iPhone/iPhod thread was closed because it was talking about illegal hacking of the software.

A couple other posts were closed because they became a bashing of either Morgan or GMac and most people are tired of seeing that.

Moderating is not a glamorous or thankful job, but it's one that is done very well and very thoughtfully on this site. If you look at 99% of the forums out there, you will not find one as big as ours that also runs as smoothly or with such little bickering on the boards.

I apologize if a thread of any of your's was closed, but there are obvious reasons if you step back and look at the flow of the thread or the hostility it creates.

Thanks,
Jeremy

You should have closed this thread when you were done.... that would have been funny.

Also - if you have a question as to why a thread was closed or deleted, please send a PM to the mod that shows as having completed the action instead of posting a thread. We have specific reasons behind our madness (clearly defined on the rules page) and if you have a specific question, please use PM so we can better explain the specific action.
