kids just scratching the surface of what he can be.

imagine the level of improvement he will make when he just focuses on basketball. Get him in San Antonio and let him work with Chip Englund for a couple summers to fix his shot, and he will be a top level point guard in the league for a lot of years.
Yep, if he can consistently create his own shot then look out.... Imagine him adding a couple pounds too, get him on the Giannis diet.

I would guess that NBA teams will see Haliburton's shorter jumpers and assume he can use that form for deep shots as he gets stronger.

Strange, it's almost like the posters on here that thought it was a travesty that Haliburton was starting over Wigginton last year didn't know what they were talking about.

I could have seen a case to start Wigginton over Horton-Tucker last year -- when THT was on, he was on, but there were far too many games where he was ice cold and forcing step-backs from 3' behind the three-point line (or even more).

Haliburton was great last year as the guy to space the floor, play defense, and move the ball. Guys like that, who can be extremely productive at low usage rates, are rare in the NBA, and Tyrese is going to be in demand because of it.

He is finding another gear this season, however. We forgot he is only 19 years old. He is young for his class and did not do prep school; Prohm found him under a rock in Wisconsin. He grew by leaps and bounds with the national team over the summer and he is continuing it now. The NBA drafts on potential, and he has oodles of it.

It will be a shame to see him leave early, never play with Foster, and not finish out his career with Conditt, but I will be more than happy for him. Prohm is going to be able to sell that story on PG recruits going forward, too, which helps the team.

Prohm definitely has to be considered one of the top PG recruiters and developers in the country at this point.

Even though he has a low release on his 3, one thing that teams will like to see is that he has great height on his shot. A rainbow 3 is very forgiving while a line drive like we have often seen out of another player who I won't mention here is either going straight in or is clanging way off - no shooter's roll there. Rainbow shots also quickly get out of shot blocking range which becomes more and more important as you face more and more length like in the league.

So in short all that really needs to change is his grip (he could use a Monte' gum wrapper) and his stroke height.

If he's projected lottery, then he is gone. That's the kind of thing that changes your life, your kids' lives, and your grandkids' lives. If he didn't declare I'd call the cops and have him committed because there's something clearly wrong with his brain!

Sure we lose him, but this is the type of thing that's a net positive for recruiting going forward. I personally HOPE he's a lottery pick and leaves, as that will likely mean he (and ISU) had a great season.

The goal of college is to get a good job/career.....if you can get a great job with a multi-million dollar salary before graduation you have to leave college and take the job.

Nice highlight reel. SIAP

Those high lights dont even show all the wide open looks he has set up that guys have just missed. You put Matt Thomas or Naz Long on the court by Tyrese and his scoring may dip some, but probably also gets 2+ more assists per game.

Not saying I think Haliburton would stay all 4 years, but could you imagine the legacy in Ames he would leave if he did? He would never have to buy a dinner or drink in Ames or surrounding areas for the rest of his life.

Like I said I think he should go pro for sure. Just hypothetically speaking. He would go down as one of the greatest players in Iowa State history.
I remember an interview with Fizer where he stated he was all set to come back for his senior season . . . . then his parent's house in Louisiana burned down so he went pro to be able and build them a new one. ISU luck.

Can you imagine that team with Tinsley and Fizer back - losing Nurse and Stevie Johnson but adding Sullivan and Shane Power? It is crazy to think that before losing Fizer they were only losing those two seniors. Horton, Shirley, Rancik, Evans and Pearson were pretty good pieces to have coming back.
