Amazing hire for the Wolves. Glen Taylor is finally spending some money. Sounds like 5 years 50 million for Thibs to take over as coach and president. Wolves are also hiring the Spurs Ast GM.

Making moves with a very young roster. They will be a force in the West in the upcoming years.

Don't like this move at all. Why would you let make personnel decisions? He wanted Marquis Teague over Draymond Green for crying out loud.
Also think he is overrated.

He will probably over work them into injury filled careers like he did with the Bulls roster.
Pushing guys to play injured in meaningless regular season games.

They will have to keep their young talent after their first contract. Good coaches are important, but lately it seems like the only way teams get really good is if they can keep and attract free agents.

Minnesota might not be able to do that.

Lots of people did not draft Green. You cannot hold that against him. Draymond was short for his position and over weight. The Warriors were able to perfect the small ball with Green and he got into shape.

Who would have ever thought that Golden State would be able to get Free Agents. It used to be only big markets, such as NY, Miami and LA getting a lot of the Free Agents. But in the past 5 years the NBA has changed that there are not many small market teams. If you have the players and a good coach, you will attract the free agents.

Great hire for the Wolves. Throw in a top draft pick with the young roster and the wolves could be decent next year.

It's kind of fun being hopeful for the Wolves' future...since the last time they made the playoffs I was 12 years old. Great hire on the coaching front, and hopefully Layman has a ton of input on personnel decisions.

Oh, there are going to be some angry Bulls fans.

Go wolves, I guess.

Teams can do it, but they have to have a core of players that want to stay. They better really like Thibs and they better start winning some games soon

Also, Thibs wanted Green. Blame the front office for that pick.

An article from ESPN: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14417182/the-bulls-trying-struggling-figure-are

"If that doesn't happen, the front office has positioned the Bulls to pivot into a new sort of team without plummeting down the standings. The jury is still out on swapping the picks that became Gary Harris and Jusuf Nurkic for McDermott, but at least it appears McDermott will be a productive NBA player. Minus the Marquis Teague whiff -- Thibodeau and his staff lobbied hard forDraymond Green, coaches have told me -- the Bulls have nailed the bottom of the first round."

Can anyone say Jimmy Butler to the TWolves??

Fred would have loved this job. People here in Minnesota probably would have applauded the hire.

Kinda glad Fred left last year and left something for Prohm to work with and build from. Another year of doubt about when he would leave might have left ISU in a lot worst condition (recruiting).

Thibs is one of the best coaches in the NBA. If Mike Dunleavy starts for you and an old Kirk Hinrich play big minutes and you are still one of the best teams record wise, you are a phenomenal coach. Not to mention your star and highest payed player is injured all the time.

Uh, doubt it. They're going to need that cap space in a few years.
I know I know, I was kinda joking. I'm not entirely sure I want him as a T-Wolves fan, because of all the things I've heard about him being a standoffish and mean teammate. But Jimmy love's Thibs and could see a solid core in MN, just a thought.

I haven't researched the contracts, but I'll bet all of that core except Rubio will still be restricted free agents when those rookie contracts come up. They might have to make some tough choices, but they'll have a good chance at keeping most of them locked up a bit longer.

At any rate, this has the potential to be one hell of a an NBA What If in a few years, depending on what direction the T-Wolves and Bulls end up trending.
