Won't be surprised either. It is his only chance to stick it to Texas Tech every year. A lot of coaches wouldn't coach a team just to coach against there former team, but Mike Leach is a guy that would do that. Kansas isn't the best destination on the market, but some, if not all the better destinations might not be willing to take the baggage that comes along with Leach. Kansas can afford to take his baggage. There AD is also willing to over pay for a coach also and would be willing to give him 2+ million a year to coach.
Are you a civilian eng? It is funny when people talk of baggage. What is his graduation rate? What has he done for the TT program? I bet they would sure like him back. Tubbyville is ruining the program like he did in Auburn. Did Tubbyville retire from Auburn and just come out of retirement to coach TT?
If Leach had a bunch of thugs and tried to make the profs alter grades, I would understand getting rid of him. It was just an ego problem in the Tech program.

I would be surprised if they could afford him, they are paying off the remaining 3 years of Gill's contract.....
Why would that matter? Coaches are fired all the time. I can't think of any replacement that went to work half price since they were paying off the old coach.

leach will put a big hole in texas tech's program when he gets done with his lawsuit against texas tech. i will wager that leach will win a few dollars in his texas tech lawsuit. he had nothing to due with the baby james ********. james old man was interfering with leach's coaching because he wanted more playing time for his baby james son. james old man is an empty suit in my book just like the fellow that tried to get playing time for his son when chizzledick was the iowa state coach. does everyone remember old man bates lobbying for his son to be ahead of austin arnaud. same story about mr james and his son at texas tech. leach will not need to coach when he gets done with texas tech!!!!!!!
