A-ha is not a one-hit wonder.

They had three Top 50 hits in the U.S., and they always did well in Europe.

I Googled one-hit wonders and Take On Me was included on more than one result... So take it up with those guys.

Just pulled up The Sun Always Shines On TV and Cry Wolf on YouTube and had never heard them before... But I've heard Take On Me many times.
Top 50 doesn't count as a hit. The Sun Always Shines on TV was only popular for a short time because Take on Me was so popular. Also, I can still replay almost the entire Take on Me video in my head. I can't say that I've even seen the Sun Always Shines on TV video. A-ha may have had two hits but, as time has passed, they really only have one that's stood up. I guess, technically, Top 20, probably does count as a hit. However, if I were to go to an A-ha concert, I'd rather hear Take on Me on a loop than listen to any of their other music.

I like to look over and tell guys they have nice dicks as a show of power despite it being true or not.
Man, I thought I was the only one that did that.

Doug: Hey, guys.
Jack: Hey, pretty small p@nis there, Doug.

I have definitely heard “Sun” on some 80s mix stations that my wife enjoys.

How should we regard their long and successful career overseas, though?

I agree their American success has been very limited, but they’re one of the more popular artists of the past few decades in certain markets in Europe and still going strong.

Most one-hit wonders are long dead by now, or their current incarnation has very little continuity with the original band’s outing.

That is not the case with A-ha.

I'll admit it. I heard the Sun song on one of the 80's stations recently. You make a compelling argument using facts. Mine is based upon conjecture and feel. Although I might consider the Europe argument as an alternative fact. It's a different place and I'm not sure it counts since most people in Europe still live in castles or mud huts.

No.

Don't Dream It's Over #2
Something So Strong #7

They had 5 top 20 hits in the UK and neither of the two above are in that bunch.

Actually Neil Finn is now a part of Fleetwood Mac.
I do know, recognize and acknowledge those songs as hits but this Neil Finn/Fleetwood Mac thing is completely new to me.

Don't worry open office concept is being shown to be the worst management idea in a long time. They will be gone in 5 years.

A-Ha sucks and most of the 80's does too!

I got into a heck of a fight with a ton of people on here when I rated the 1980s as my least favorite decade for music between 1940 and 2000.

Do not tick off Depeche Mode fans.
Bring it on. Music is my greatest passion. I'll squash these Yuppy dreams.
