Wow. Ferentz says thanks, but no thanks to the mighty Michigan Wolverines. I say, HA!

If he was offered and he turns it down, then he deserves his fanbase.....

I would concur. We'll most likely never know.

If he wasn't interested, he would have said that much last week. So either he was interested, they offered and he said no (probably $$) or they were interested but decided after interviews they were not going to offer.

1 of 3 things is happening.

1) They are making stuff up. Nobody knows what's going on (ding, ding, ding)

2) He was never in the running.

3) KF was in the running, isn't getting the job, and doing the standard "I'm not getting it, hence I'm not interested"

Could not agree with you more!

This topic (Kirk) hasn't been talked about at all on the two major sports radio stations here in Michigan the last two days. They talk about the search, but very little has been said about Kirk. This leads me to believe it was all smoke and mirrors by someone in Hawkeye land.

From the Squawk board:

Re: Breaking News on Ferentz and Michigan Reply
Says he was on a plane last night, but he was traveling to look at NFL facilities and UI wants to upgrade their facilities. They are reporting that he is no longer a candidate for the UM job.

I said this yesterday about Kelly...I'm glad we didn't hire him if he's jumping ship after 1 year.

If it is Kelly, and he has long term succcess at Michigan that exceeds the long term success Chizik will have here, I hope people are smart enough to realize that that doesn't mean he would have had success at ISU or would have been the right hire.

I like this quote within the thread

"thank god now the coaches can focus on recruiting and all these off field issues rather then worrying about rumors and such, i have a feeling our recruiting class will be top 40 when finished maybe top 35"

And you will probably be disappointed, because numerous people will say it.

This topic finally came up yesterday on the sports radio station here in MI. The guy that covers Michigan football in the locker room also hosts a show in the afternoon. He said that it was his understanding from his multiple connections within the program that Kirk was never contacted or considered for the position. This includes a third party, no one contacted him.

Ferentz was never a consideration at Michigan.

I truly believe that the typical delusional hawkeye fan is trying to find some justification for why they are paying for a great coach when they, in actuality, have an average coach...so they ignore the mediocre record and focus on the fact that other big time programs and the NFL want their coach. The reality is that Ferentz is stuck in Iowa City...no one wants him at this moment. He might have had some opportunities after his 3 great years (the only great years he has ever had as a coach), but no longer. Too many losses and too many off the field "issues" over the last several seasons.

Brian Kelly is all smoke and mirrors also...he will not get the job. As I've said before, if Michigan does not have a head coach by the end of the week it means that Les Miles will be offered the job after he is done coaching LSU in the SEC Championship game this Saturday.
