I can tell you that i have heard rumblings from within the program that there's some barriers that could be creating these issues. I believe that McKay may be getting the brunt of his attitude issue based on factors within the team. Such as a certain couple players not playing within the team concept and more importantly playing for themselves and the accolades that come with success.

If i had to guess McKay is dissatisfied with our offense and the only time McKay ever gets the ball fed to him is on lobs. Today we saw Niang consistanly posting up and getting excellent entry passes from Monte. So, whens the last time you saw a post up and entry pass to McKay. Instead its his job to go out and set picks for everyone else. Part of the team concept is keeping everyone happy.

I agree with Cycsk - if anyone thinks this team will succeed long term without McKay your greatly under estimating his impact and how his absence will impact this team long term. With that said, i think he needs to get some bench during the game as he's banging with these guys for 40 mins a game and has to work his rear off to get a rebound to have any chances at scoring. IMO - this is an ego thing. He's not getting the opportunity to shine with Monte and George.

I'm a McKay fan and an ISU fan. I hope he gets his head on straight and settle whatever issue is ailing him because we need him for a run in the Big 12 and NCAA.
Look at past games. If Mckay wants the ball in the post set a decent screen.

Edit: after rereading your post I don't disagree with what you said even though it sounds like it. If Kay (he'll be referred to as Kay until he shows that he is All in with the team) wants to shine then he needs to do the little things it takes to be a successful teammate.

He's received far too many feeds this season; feeds he has done absolutely nothing with, time and time again. Far too often, after he bricks his bunny, he throws his arms in the air and glares at the ref while the opponent runs up the floor with the rebound and scores.

We must watch different games then.... ive rewatched nearly everyone of the losses and i cannot point at one entry feed on a Mckay post up....

Not sticking up for Mckay missin bunnies as that does happen but those are not post ups those are monte drive and dish with a clutered lane. Would it surprise you to know that McKay is leading the team in FG % at 58%?

Bottom line is i think there is more to this then simply saying he didnt want to practice. I think there's a underlying issue within the team. There's a reason that our assist totals are significantly lower then last year.

I praise Coach for handling it the way he did - this has to be the message. Regardless of others opinions, i truly feel if this team is to progress we need Jameel and we need him right. If that does not happen - then we will be a 7-8 seed and probably not make it out of the first weekend of the tourney.

Smh, no. So you're saying you want more McKay post ups and isos? You may be the only Cyclone fan thinking that.

If you want to compare to last year, how bout looking at McKay running the floor much better last season.

How many post ups and isos was McKay getting last year?

Agree with the running the floor - this could be as simple as his minutes are higher? he's being asked to play harder on defense like the rest of the team.... not sure why but agreed a lot of his pts came on offensive glass and transition buckets.

Will wait and see how the McKay issue washes out - hope he gets right and we get the McKay from last year back for the stretch run. anyone who thinks this team is better without him is sadly mistaken.

I hope McKay sits one more game. Prohm needs to make it clear he is the one who knocks.

After the "1 game" tweet and his message to the press (Hines) this morning, I'd have to agree. Otherwise it would appear McKay is dictating the rules. That would not bode well long-term for Prohm's control of his program. I realize McKay was recruited by a coach with a different style of coaching, but guess what, Jameel - so were all the rest of the players.

Seriously. Everyone. Jameel's injury is real. There are stories on it and everything.

It must also drive you crazy that McKay doesn't get to shoot as many 3 pointers as Thomas. Team? Bull. This is favoritism.

I just hope he does get it straight and comes back with his head on straight. Then he grabs Nader before every game and tells him to NOT pass to him under the basket. That is one play that drives me crazy. I think it has worked ONCE all season and the rest were turnovers.

When did he get injured? I haven't seen anything on the site about it. Some of you guys really know how to keep a secret:jimlad:

If only someone could convey the extent of his injury on social so everyone could know what he's going through so he could get more adulation then it'll be better.

This is correct. Earlier in the year we tried running some offense through him in the post. His back to the basket game is not a strength of his and he doesn't have great touch. He's an energy guy, garbage man type of player which we desperately need.

They have a very high ceiling if he accepts that role but I'll be shocked if he does.

They've passed him the ball plenty. He has trouble handling post feeds, he struggles to hold on to the ball in traffic, and he really has limited post moves that he can put on the bigger, stronger players who are usually guarding him. He needed to spend last summer working on his post game instead of developing his 3-pt shot.

Think we all agree we want McKay back only if he is 'all in', on board with coaches , playing hard, and doing the things he is best at to help this team. I realize he's a certain type of player and he must play to those strengths. I just can't figure out what went wrong with him to go away from that. Right now, WV's Devin Williams is ten times better of a basketball player in the 5 position than McKay. Has a jumper, rebounds like mad, a body that won't get shoved around, and a good free throw shooter. I think McKay needs to realize what he is good at, and stop questioning coaches when adversity hits.
