There was an interesting, and timely for this conversation, article in the San Diego U-T today that ranked the on-air sports talk personalities' performance (both local and syndicated ranked from 1-5 microphones).

Radio daze: Grading S.D. sports hosts - SignOnSanDiego.com

If you had to rank the central-Iowa foks 1-5 microphones, what would the ratings show?

We actually have a couple people out here that offer up an informed, thoughtful, program where they don't have to rely on shock-value to stir up "llisteners" (if any of you are Chargers fans I highly recommend streaming the "Scott and BR Show", great guests and they don't pander to anybody). From the little bit I've heard on-line of the DM area pesonalities, it doesn't sound like there is much to tune in for.

Probably depends if you like the shock jock. I don't.

I would give most everyone in the market 1 to 2 microphones.

I would give Deace a 4 1/2 when it comes to sports talk.

I would probably give Ken Miller a 2 1/2. My only problem with him is that he focuses too much on sports I could care less about like baseball and other pro sports. He doesn't seem to really like college sports.

Tirrel-I would give him a 3 when he's not being obnoxious.
