Those guys you mentioned all had one thing in common....they could put the ball in the hoop. You can have wiggle, ball handling, length, whatever. Can you make shots against elite competition? I'm not sure WIlliams is at that level.
He’s ahead of where Nadar was as a sophomore in that regard

We’ll see, but all of those guys improved a lot over their college careers. CuJo got a lot better from his Indian Hills days. If Williams improves similarly, he’s going to be an intriguing prospect

Yeah, maybe only play Tamin 37 minutes against the scrub teams in November. No reason to play him 38 minutes.
With at least two new starters and who knows how many others who will get PT, Tamin and everyone else will need to get used to playing together and get their timing down. Preseason scrub teams are a good way to get this experience. But, overall, I do hope they rest Tamin. Maybe a flexibility regime, such as Yoga, may also help Tamin to stay away from injuries. Not sure he is capable of not going full speed ahead into bodies in order to draw fouls.

Hi shooting hand wrist was injured last season and he couldn't shoot the 3 that well, so he started driving more. Before that, he said he was primarily a 3-pt shooting PG. His shooting may be improved due solely to healing his wrist. I'm excited to learn he has experience playing PG!

His numbers don't seem that far off from where Jones was after his sophomore season at Buffalo. Hopefully this guy can be his replacement. Let's see how this one works out.

Not sure if the vertical can be changed that much
Let me introduce you to these, my friend.

When I was at SCC in the late 80s/early 90s there was a 5' 10" guard on the basketball team that wore the first version of these to class trying to improve his vertical so he could dunk better...he could already dunk but he was trying to keep up with Robert George who was a 6' athletic freak and had some monster dunks. 41gFbwyH1JL._AC_UF1000,1000_QL80_.jpg

Seems like there was a Seinfeld episode where George or Kramer were going to get rich selling these.

Just read on register that Mason will be out for the season because of a hip injury. Wondered what the slow play was on Nelson but this does give the fr guards a chance to shine

lol we will not see this guy play in an Iowa state uniform. With the transfer portal these days why on earth would we take a transfer who needs hip surgery? Most Iowa State thing ever.
Its likely why we recruited Dominick Nelson. In a perfect world, he gets healthy and improves his game during this redshirt year and comes in more Big 12 ready in two years. We'll see if that's what happens.

Depth could be a concern come February-March again with the news Williams is out. We will have injuries every season based on the defensive intensity the team is required to play with. I don’t think Pleta is on campus either so we will need Batemon and Toure to be ahead at the guard position.

Gotta quit taking transfer guards named Williams! Hasn't TJ learned anything?! ;)
