MagaBus in DM

We are heading to Chicago for a 3 day trip on Monday, and got tickets on MegaBus a few months ago ($8.50 for 2 RT tickets in case anyone is wondering).

For those of you who have used the option from Des Moines, where did you park downtown? I was looking up prices in the downtown ramps, and if we were to leave our car in one of the ramps for 3 days, it would cost us nearly $40. I know that still a lot cheaper then what we would pay if we were driving to/parking in Chicago, but I'm wondering if anyone has found any cheaper/free way for long term parking in downtown Des Moines? Also, due to many reasons, its pretty much impossible for us to get someone drop us off/pick us up, so we have eliminated that possibility.

Depending on the lot and time, some of them aren't staffed after a certain time so you can just drive on out.

Could you ride DART? I know it's not the greatest option, but at least you wouldn't have to leave a vehicle there. Only problem would be if you are coming in late or leaving late and their not being a bus.

I would be skeptical leaving a car in a parking garage overnight. We've had people in leave their vehicles in our ramp (monitored 24/7/365) and they have been vandalized.

Taxi and DART wont work...we have to drop our dog off to get boarded in Ankeny, and cant do so until 7 AM, so we are in a time crunch!

The internet is a little hard to convey sarcasm though... but anyway... good luck on your trip! Megabus is awesome! Chicago stop drops you off right at Union Station and there will be taxis out the wazoo, literally trying to grab your stuff off the bus for you!
