Yes I know its another Lucca thread but I have to tell my story. I wrote on his facebook wall, "sorry man, what the NCAA is doing to you is a load of crap. Hopefully they will do the right thing and let you play because we need you out there." He then wrote back, "i really thank you guys(cyclone fans)sooooo much.....you guys are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I just thought it was cool that he did that.

I just saw Lucca walking out of the Ames WalMart at 5:20 this evening. He didn't look happy, but he didn't look unhappy either.

He's probably a little upset he didn't take some money in Europe, then he wouldn't have to shop at Wal-Mart.

Has Lucca not gone to any of the other road games, either? The team already left for Oregon.

We recuited not only a great athlete in Lucca, but a GREAT, I mean GREAT person in Lucca. Many people in his position could've have thrown in the towel and went to play ball for money. It takes a man to swallow such a decision as this, and a man to act as a gentleman in such a situation. What I get out of this situation, is MacD recuits MEN to play ball here at Iowa State, not boys. I have not met Lucca, nor did I know of him before this year as many of you haven't either. But the way he has handled this, he is a man of character, class, and ethics. What type of athlete would you rather have in this situation, and to represent our University (yes I know one that can play) but my respect for Lucca and MacD have increased exponentially in this situation. This has got to be so hard on Lucca, as if you were in his position, it would make it hard to breathe, I know it would for me. Keep giving him support in this time of toughness for him. He's a cyclone, your a cyclone, we're all cyclones!

Mission accomplished. I seriously hope he sticks around for next year!

I don't see how it would be an advantage for Lucca personally to leave now.

If he came here to get a college degree, he still has his scholarship, so that goal is not affected by this situation. This time could be useful for him to get well-grounded academically so there are no grade issues in the future.

If he is after an NBA/pro career, I really don't see how missing one season of playing time as a freshman is going to seriously jeopardize that, unless he was planning to go pro early. He still gets to practice with the team and work on his skills, and he should still be working on learning GMac's system. If the other guys on the team improve throughout the year, Lucca should also improve somewhat by practicing against them. If he's gifted enough to be a pro, he should be able to make up the lost time over the next three years.

I'm sure it would benefit ISU for Lucca to start playing as soon as possible, but at this point, we should probably consider what is best for Lucca. If the final appeal is lost, does it really benefit him to file lawuits? I can only imagine what a circus and distraction that would be. I guess it might benefit him if he could win back another year of eligibility, but there's no guarantee that a lawsuit would win back that eligibility.

I'm sure this situation is frustrating for him, but in the big picture, I don't see how how the goals he may have had coming to ISU could be damaged badly enough to just pack up and leave.

He's probably upset he has to all the xmas shopping for everyone he knows in Europe because the exchange rate over here is so good.

I've been thinking along these same lines this entire time as well. Isn't the point of accepting a collegiate scholarship to get a degree? I know the argument for lobbying for a better draft position, but are those the kids we would really need/want, especially since we're dangerously close to sanctions for not graduating enough players?

I always smile when I'm, at Wal-Mart. I feel like the most handsome, in shape, man in the world when I'm there! If I was a halfway attractive woman I'd feel like a beauty queen-rocket scientist after 5 minutes there. I think I'll go there now. I've had a bad day.
