Forbes Field? Can you tell us about the old Polo Grounds too?

Haha! I am 77 and have seen a lot of baseball games in my life. Forbes was closed in 1970, so it must have been before then. All I remember was that the Pirates played the Dodgers. Stargell hit one out and Maury Wills stole a base, but I can't recall who won or who pitched, although I would have remembered Drysdale or Koufax.

Polo Grounds was a bit before my time....

Weird. Does the city own it?

I think so. It's been a while since I lived there, so haven't kept up with it. I believe some group got it a historical designation to keep it from being torn down.

When I lived there, they were selling off seats and parts of the old turf as if they were going to tear it down, but that got the brakes put on.

I wasn't too abreast of Astrodome situation ... a couple items from 2021 thru a quick search (didn't find anything more reacent).

Wasn't it a casino at some point?

There’s gotta be a way to repurpose it or something. Like what they did to the old Vets.

Well, it has been used for a couple of movies (wasn’t the championship game in Friday Night Lights set there, or am I thinking of a different movie?) and at least one U2 music video that weirdly had a football game going on as part of the video.

I’m not sure why I remember that.

Haven’t been to too many MLB stadiums, but the first major league game I’d ever been to was Fuller County Stadium in Atlanta. Otherwise the only other ballparks I’ve been to have been Wrigley Field and Kauffman Stadium.

Yeah, that's the hangup. Their have been many ideas, but none of them have stuck. I seen to recall some group wanting to turn it into some sort of luxury hotel, but that fell through (likely because it's not in a part of town where there are things to do).

What's going to happen is it will deteriorate and become structurally unsound, requiring it to be demolished and everybody will be sad about it.

Three for me.
Veterans
Yankee Stadium
Busch Stadium

Been to 15 MLB parks total. Favorite is where my favorite team plays...Camden. Worst park was old Busch stadium. Was there just once and was in August and so hot. All that concrete on that hot summer night was brutal.
