I'll be running in this for the 4th year in a row, now, and I absolutely love it! It has a great atmosphere and everyone running is friendly and has a great attitude toward each other. Just a great event, all-around.

Anyone else running there this Saturday? I'll be there with the Power Ranger group!

I'll be there with the tie dyed wife beater group. This is my first year so I am extra excited! Old shoes, gloves, and minimal clothing is what I'm planning...any other advice?

I've run this a couple times. If you haven't done it before, I recommend having someone at the finish line that has a change of clothes and blankets for your group. You probably won't get cold during the run (I never really have and I actually run through the streams), but afterward, when you're standing around, your sweat starts to freeze and your body can go into shock.

Make sure you have a new pair of gloves to put on after you finish and to get out of your wet socks/shoes and into a dry pair right away. Other than that, don't try and avoid the streams, you're going to get wet and muddy anyway, just enjoy it. Best of luck.

Very jealous. I live out of state and only get to this race once every few years. It is the best. Have fun.

Like another poster mentioned, don't try to avoid the streams at all--you ARE going to get wet. Also, I highly recommend making yourself a set of eyeblack out of the mud on your hands after you climb up a creek-bank. Feels awesome and looks even better!

Don't be a pansy, gloves are worthless.

2006? was the best one I've been to. It snowed the week before and the streams were up to my waist in some places (I'm about 6'2"). Absolute blast...minus the whole literally freezing balls...

First time in 3 yrs that my wife and I are not running in the race. I didnt want to pay the money and then not run if ISU had a 11am game. Wish I would have chanced it now that I know the game is at 6pm.

Advice is to not worry about gloves or trying to not get wet or muddy. That is the point and it will happen before you are finished. Just jump in and have a good time

This may be odd, but I haven't heard of this event. Can someone post a link or give more information on it? Sounds like a blast.

Where they love the governor
Living History Farms Cross Country Race - Off Road

This one is always on my "to-do" list. I've lost count of the number of times I've run this one. It's such a blast! I did it almost every year when I was in school and since I've moved, I've done it 3 or 4 times in the 5 years I've been gone. Doing it with my sister in the morning, then the whole fam-damily is going up to watch the football game. I might convince them to go to the basketball game on Sunday as well...

If you live in the eastern part of the state, the Governor's Cross Country run is a blast as well. IIRC, that's earlier in November.

And I'm not dressing up for it, as it's hard to pack a costume in my bag.

Just found out our web person's son is running in this. Don't know anything else, but it really sounds like fun.

If anyone here sees themselves on TV later, please post the URL and your CF name.

I took the last year off from running, and this is one of the races I miss.
