I know what show you're talking about, and I'll be there as well.

Last time, there were assigned seats, but everyone rushed the stage when DBT came out. That's why it's GA this time around.

My advice:

Bring whiskey. That's our plan.

Saw Rosanne Cash at the Englert last February. It's a good venue for live music. The sound is good and you're pretty close to the stage.

Quintons next door is a pretty good place for a sandwich and a beer or two before the concert if you're hungry. They usually play a good mix of music in there.

Had god awful service at Quinton's the one time I was there.

A good buddy of mine works at Short's, so we'll be hitting that before the Drive-By Truckers show. Unless we just end up drinking at my friend who I'm going to the show's house, which is likely.

Hmmm, too bad you had a bad experience at Quinton's. I usually have pretty good luck in there. Oh well, the show is the main thing and that should be a good time!

So they don't sell beer there?

I don't remember. I was pretty broke the last time I saw a show there, so I was sneaking booze in, regardless.

Yeah, the waitress just ignored us for a good 20 minutes. The food wasn't bad, and my drink was decent, but good god the service sucked.

What is it about Iowa City shows and no beer sales? Robert Earl Keen...no beer; Wilco..no beer. Now a chance that DBT will not have beer. If there truly is no beer then the Englert better not smell as bad as Otto's in Dekalb did. I can put up with the venue smelling like a foot as long as I can have a few beers.
