Live from BISON nation.

I have read most of this thread, looks like ISU fans think that there is absolutely no way that they will lose this game. That's great, I hope your players feel the same way. I hear an awful lot about last year's result against SDSU, and several references to the equation: ISU thumped SDSU, SDSU beat NDSU, therefore ISU will thump NDSU. The only problem with that is that all experience with college football shows that it often does not go that way. Let's look at it another way, another team from our conference has done pretty well against you guys. I looked at the past scores and they have throttled your mighty program a few times, and many of the losses of these games, all played on your field, are very close. Why then is it so incredibly inconceivable that another team from that same conference might come in and, on a good day, come away with a win? Do I detect an ounce of trepidation beneath your bluster? Just a thought...

Oh looky. Another troll wants to educate us on our team, you know the one we've been following forever. How could we be so stupid as to think we might win this one handily?

It would have to be a VERY good day for you to win, including injuries to the ISU starting 22 in a freak locker room accident.

ISU players and fans are only concerned about 1 team: I O W A !

NDSU looks at ISU as a vulnerable team that will try to overachieve in the season opener.

thats my prediction.

That's always the best idea. Underestimate your enemy, opponent in this case. That's sounds like a crop of future Generals and other leaders of America.

I guess that's better than underachieving???
So, what you're really trying to say is that we won't win by 3, but we will win by 40? :skeptical:

What the hell team are you talking about? UNI? They beat us once. NDSU doesn't have the depth to compete with Iowa State. The NDSU defense will be dying by the third quarter, and NDSU has a few contributors who are suspended.

And trust me, the team feels no way like the fans. They're focused already, and ready to come out and prove they were better than they showed last season. It's kinda fun to be around them right now while they prepare. They're more prepared for NDSU than any team they'll see this season because they've been watching film on NDSU forever.

I hope you are wrong about the ISU players. By the way, I looked at the record and I see 3 wins by UNI, as well as one-point and three-point wins by ISU. So, unless UNI is vastly better than every other team in its conference, I don't see how history supports the notion that the Bison have no chance.

Pierre, Jemison will definitely play

As the days go along, the quarterbacks look to be more accurate with their throwing and if I didn't know any better, it appears the Bison are developing an effective passing game. Receiver Gary Williams made a couple of tough catches in traffic (he also dropped a wide open one later) and receiver Titus Mack could be The Guy provided he learns the offense and fits into the scheme.
As for other stuff on Wednesday:
  • True freshmen Brendin Pierre and Brandon Jemison will definitely not redshirt. Pierre is a defensive back from Miramar, Fla., who also has been working on some kick return teams and Jemison is an outside linebacker from Fargo South. Craig Bohl said fullback Garrett Bruhn is also getting serious consideration to play as a true freshman.
  • In a surprise move, Bohl said both placekickers will probably make the trip for the season opener at Iowa State. He said a starter has not been determined between seniors Shawn Bibeau and John Obarski. “Bibeau has been challenged,â€￾ Bohl said. “We’ve had some charting and great competition and we’ll name a starter going into next week.â€￾
  • There appears to be no concrete leaders in the kick return personnel, especially for the first game with senior Shamen Washington suspended for Iowa State. Bohl said Mack, who just recently became eligible, will get a strong look once he’s able to work with full pads. On Wednesday, cornerback Josh Gatlin looked pretty comfortable returning kickoffs.
  • Thursday is the last of the two-a-day practices. “â€￾We’re getting to the tail end of camp,â€￾ Bohl said. “Certain guys are having a hard time, banged up and nicked up, but we still need some more work.â€￾

Maybe not every team in the conference, but they are vastly better than you. They're a D-1AA powerhouse who could hold their own against many other 1A schools and you're a mediocre team who's been in 1AA for two years. It's like comparing Oklahoma or Texas to Colorado.

Unlike NDSU, UNI is a much better football program, and also is much closer to Ames. The ISU-UNI game attracts a LOT more UNI fans than NDSU could ever hope to bring to ames. Probably more than if they shipped every season ticket holder from ND.

9,313 Season Ticket Holder's for NDSU.

there was that many UNI fans?

Id bet so. They had their own allotment, and a decent number snagged seats in the donor sections (being close theyre going to know people who have season tix who cant make it)

I believe our record attendance was set at a UNI game.

3 wins in how many match-ups? I think 25, so....a 12% chance that NDSU will win. Seems a little high to me, but perhaps.

Didn't UNI play in the 1AA championship game the last year that they beat us? That tells me that they are one of the best 1AA teams period. If NDSU had recently beaten UNI handily, your argument would have a lot more merit. Just because you are in the same conference as them, doesn't mean that you have as good a chance to win against us as they do. That would be like ISU saying that, because Oklahoma and Texas are in our conference, we have the same chance of winning the national championship as they do. Think about it.

If NDSU starts making the playoffs every year and makes it to their championship game, then we might consider you as big an FCS threat as UNI. UNI has had the talent to beat many FBS teams in the past, NDSU is not the same team as UNI.

I find it awkward that there are many sports analysts and even NDSU fans(Ive talked to a few of them in South Dakota) predict an upset of NDSU over ISU in Jack Trice Stadium but then come back and say NDSU won't beat SDSU in Coughlin Alumni Stadium. Thoughts?

Thats correct.
