Is he the QB whisper? He has always talking to the QB's when they come off the field for years. He seems to be a calming voice. Look at Purdy and now Becht, how calm they are on the field. Now we find out one of his duties is scouring college and pro games each week and bringing new plays to the staff meetings. This offense is more creative than any in a long time.

Kyle always appeared to me to have 2 strengths - even keeled demeaner and accuracy. The rest of his tools weren't great at QB. However those are probably the two things that matter most as far as being a QB coach.

I like all of our assistants at the moment - can't think of a single one that I'm not excited about. But Kyle is one I hope we retain.

I think Mouser is a large part of that as well. Saying that I do know during a presser it was said that Mouser has Kyle watch as many College and NFL games to find plays that Iowa State can use as well. As well Scheelhaase keeps in touch with Mouser on the Rams and they talk plays.

When I see Kyle Kempt, the first word which comes to mind is "cerebral". He was valedictorian of his HS graduating class and I love seeing him speak with our QB's on the sidelines. It's almost unfair - tall, good-looking, athletic enough to be a Division 1 QB and smart - almost too many gifts...

It's really more of a burden for those of us who have to bear it...

Kyle is the on-field liason between the quarterback and Jake Waters quarterback coach. He is also one of quality control coaches.

The guys who weren't the most naturally gifted, but found way to be successful often make good coaches. Kyle never had the biggest arm, but knew where to get the ball and when. These are transferrable to guys he's coaching up.

It seems like the pull in multiple staff members to draw up the playbook. The Maryland I and some of the other power run stuff we've seen was brought over from NDSU by the RB coach
