Most people on this board don't think this will be an issue at all...yet some still feel the need to complain that we are trying to land Kelm and Barnes (even though they want Kelm and Barnes)...people also continue to speculate without having ANY knowledge that McDermott will pull someone's scholarship. I guess, if I had a real issue with this, I would wait until it happened before I decided to gripe and moan about it.
That being said, welcome to the ISU family Kyle (I hope)...I will be SHOCKED if anyone's scholarship is pulled by McDermott whether we sign Kyle and Harrison or not...if I'm wrong, I'll be the first one to eat crow.
I am not a McDermott hater! Go back and look at threads I have started backing his coaching last year.
I call it like I see it. I hope to god that we get Barnes and Kelm (nobody looks at more Barnes threads across the country than I) but I just want us to do it the right way. I don't think we ever should have signed 7 guys last signing period. I said it than and feel even more stronly about it now

I agree, there is a couple people that have an agenda against Coach Mac.
Who here knows if one or more of the 7 recruited last year had a conditional scholarship similiar to Adam Thompson? If you don't, then wait until things happen to complain.
That could very easily be the case. And if the coaching staff didn't have a number of contingency plans, I'd be flabbergasted.

IF Kelm AND Barnes commit, that will put us 2 over the limit of scholarships. As of right now, we knoq of nobody that is transfering. How else are we going to get these 2 additional scholarships? Doesn't that mean that 2 people are going to be gone? Do you see my concern?
Unless Brackins has said that he is gone no matter what after his junior year(I doubt), and we know Boozer is transfering, it gives me a bad taste in my mouth. We are offering scholarships we don't have
We're not getting Barnes. McDermott is planning for that and would be a fool not to.
If by some miracle we do get Barnes......what have you seen so far from the McDermott regime that makes you think that all current scholarship players will be here to exhaust their eligibility here at Iowa State?

Makes sense though. He dislikes us so much that he comes to our games, goes into the locker room with the coaches during the game, and is really good friends with players on our team. :biglaugh::biglaugh:
No I don't want to gamble some credits on it. Odds would be in your favor. He probably has a top 5 and we are in it. So you have an 80% chance of being right. Congrats
And to answer your question. Nothing. He has shown me nothing in terms of being able to keep players here. That doesn't mean that won't/can't change
By the way fellow posters, IF Gilstrap is given a 2nd year, we would be 3 scholarships over in 2010

Hey, I had someone who wanted to put credits on my statement that Arnaud would be getting at least 3/4 of the snaps over Bates by midseason...:biglaugh:
I think your best bet for ONE person to answer this is Mac. It appears from the last few weeks of threads that nobody on here (who is willing to tell) knows this answer at this point.
But I for one will not speculate that any of our players are going to transfer because I don't think they are good enough and they are a logical choice. It's been pointed out last year that players from the team check these boards regularly to see what is being said about them... and I feel terrible for two in particular that have been singled out when they haven't even been given much of a chance to prove themselves yet. Most freshmen and sophmores don't come into programs and make differences right away... yeah... it's been different at ISU... but not all of them can get that chance.
So I for one hope none of our players transfer... but instead hope that under Mac's coaching develop into players that play like they should have been given a 5 star rating in highschool. These guys have already committed to ISU and I hope they all do great things.
