Cyclone fans need to become more vocal in the local media and elsewhere. We don't have to their crap anymore . We don't have to take slams, digs, and marginalization from any Zabel, Giggles, Canadian Grins, or "Jean' Miller, . . . or any of the other WHO cronies. BTW, I haven't held a RAG subscription for more than 30 years .. and I refuse to buy their newspaper. I might read it at Micky Ds on occassion. For example, I don't buy gas from KUM (Hawk supporting???) and Go. I will never buy a car from a pro hawk dealership. I shop and Lowes and not Home Depot. On and on.

Kum and go supports ISU also. If you owned a business would you only do business with ISU fans? When you buy something do you ask who the person you are buying from cheers for. I am sure they dont care if they do business with you or not if the only reason you wont do business with them is because of who they support.

The media is doing well not giving ISU respect. ISU has went out of their way to make be easy on the media, while Iowa has done the opposite.

How about MPs point on yesterday's show.

If isu went 1-11, would you want that one win to be against Iowa?

It was part of his point that it is the the clone Super Bowl...which I do not think it proves at all.

If it comes down to a bowl game like record then a non-conference loss is better than a conference loss...so give me a loss to isu and a win vs. Michigan every time. With a record like 1-11...make that 1 against isu to make my year just a little easier!

In the 5 minutes I tuned in yesterday Giggles was talking about how somebody compared Iowa/Iowa State to Florida/Florida State? Please tell me that whoever did that was comparing the fact that they are both in the same state and NOT the rivalry on a national scene (if so that's just stupid)

NU. I think most of the fanbase wants NU's last game at JTS to end in loss. Otherwise OU or UT, we could still use one win if it were over one of them. Fwiw, I'm in favor of dropping Iowa.

It was me that compared the games, mainly because they are both in the same state and not in the same conference... But also because neither team really mattered until Spurrier got to Florida and they went a while without playing before the State stepped in and pretty much forced it. Florida has big rivals in conference (see Georgia) but it doesn't and hasn't taken anything away from the rivalry with Florida State, even when both or one of the programs was down.

I just loved how he only mentioned the one part and not the rest of my statement...

Another one hit out of the park, weR138. That's exactly right.

And to give it another perspective and to use Perault's argument, beating Iowa this year won't do anything for ISU NATIONALLY. Afterall, people say when Iowa loses to ISU, it's a rivalry game.

But beating UTAH will do something for ISU NATIONALLY. Utah is the darling of the media right now.

What degree of a bump in the polls do the NATIONAL voters give Iowa after a win over ISU? How badly does a loss affect it in the eyes of the NATIONAL voters and media? Answer these questions rationally and you will understand Matt's point. Asking for a rational thought on this board might be a little tough. Overcoming ISU's national perception, deservedly or not, can be tough for both teams.

How big of a bump did Iowa get after beating EIU?

And again, ISU doesn't get any kind of NATIONAL recognition for beating Iowa.

Exactly.

Thanks for teeing that one up for me.

Again, I realize asking for a rational thought on this board is a little much. There really is not much higher they can go at this point of the season. But then again you knew that.

How I understood it, Iowa would drop ISU (a non-conference opponent) for an opponent from FCS, Sun Belt, Conference USA, etc. That doesn't really gain them the national recognition that they want.

Maybe Iowa isn't just as popular NATIONALLY as everyone in the state thinks they are. Iowa - Georgia Tech was the lowest rated BCS bowl last year, 2 points lower than Boise St. - TCU. The Iowa-Iowa State coverage map for this weekend shows that the game will be on ABC in Iowa, half of Nebraska, most of Minnesota and cuts off about an hour west of Chicago. Meanwhile, the other 93% of the nation (and more importantly the citizens in the heart of Big 10 country) will instead be watching Oklahoma - Florida State, instead of "National Title Darkhorse and Big 10 member" Iowa. One has to wonder why an ACC-Big 12 match-up trumps coverage of Big 10 member in their own viewing area?

Fixed it. Be real with yourself.

Yeah, that video of Rhoads in the lockerroom after the Nebraska game sure didn't get any kind of NATIONAL play at all, did it?

Where is that photo of the ****** bag when you need it?

Way to stay on topic fella.

From week 2 to week 3 last season (following the 35-3 win over ISU) Iowa actually lost a vote in the AP poll.

I am not saying this is ISU's super bowl or any of that nonesense. I love my alma mater and loved my time in school @ I-State. I hate defending the hawks. But I understand where the two programs rank in the landscape of college football. A share of multiple Big Ten titles in a ten year period and a couple of BCS bowls is pretty good. No conference championships since 1912 is not. Root for your team all you want, but don't kid yourself.

Reading your entire post makes more sense. I'm not shocked that Giggles left off something when quoting somebody else (something that he gets extremely ****** if you do to him)

I'm not sure why some clone fans want their FB team to better?

A good ranking means your overrated.
A BCS bowl win is no big deal.
A little national respect is unearned.
Ect...ect...ect.

You should have taken this tone in your previous posts instead of taking the "Asking for a rational thought on this board might be a little tough" douce bag approach. No need for it.

I think you are missing a point here as well.

Pick a team, any team to replace Iowa State on Iowa's schedule. Unless it's Florida, Alabama, USC -- even Boise State or TCU at this moment -- Iowa is not going to get a "bump" in the polls by beating ANY team.

And Florida, Alabama or USC is NOT going to schedule Iowa because there is no incentive for those teams to play them. Those teams have the same feelings about Iowa (they don't matter) as Iowa feels about ISU.

An overly exagerated post.

The vast majority of posters on this board have nothing but good things to say about the Iowa football program. Some of their dirtball fans, not so much.

I would be willing to wager there is a lot more respect shown on this board towards the Iowa program than there are from the posters on Hawkeye Nation concerning the Iowa State program.

Excellent point. I have a lot of respect for their program . . I can't stand most of their idiot fans.
