Just so you know, ADs and collectives across the country are starting the process of implementing the terms of the Settlement Agreement. They aren't waiting around despite any potential legal challenges and the need for potential Congressional intervention to address those challenges.
Preparing for something is one thing, without a doubt Pollard is looking at how the university is going to have to come up with $22 million a year. But preparing for it is not putting things in place like it has already passed.
When it does, then you will be correct, but we are still a long way and many lawsuits away from it being passed and going into affect.

FB will end up as employees, or more likely, sublicensed to a 3rd party like Learfield.

Take FB out of the equation and its a LOT more manageable wrt NIL, Title 9, etc.
Since it became law people have been trying to get football exempt from Title 9 and so far those efforts have led to nothing. No way women's groups are going to allow universities to exempt football from the title 9 equation because it would cause their scholarship numbers to be dropped and title 9 is not going away.

I thought we hated Wilner?
Wilner adopting the Big 12 as the conference for him to cover. Geez. He's good with into these 60 Minute type articles. He's not good when he ditches the investigative reporter hat for that of a fan writing in the guise of a reporter (the slanted reporting against the Big 12 for the Pac).

My two cents on the debate here:

@cykadelic2 is laying out how the new system is supposed to work, and how the people championing the changes are telling us it will work. Looking only at these new rules through that lens, he's probably right to believe them.

But pretty much everyone else (myself included) are extremely skeptical about these be implemented in a fair way or with genuine intentions from the power brokers. I believe every school will basically have to fund the $22 million as a base point, but I think it's foolish to believe 3rd party NIL efforts won't add a significant amount on top for the wealthiest schools, and they'll figure out a way to disguise it as "fair market value," which is an incredibly tricky thing to nail down and every time this yet-to-be-formed entity tries to nail a school for overpaying there will be an outcry about depriving players of what they're worth. It's going to get sticky, we're miles from the end, and I believe without a collegiate players union and a CBA (likely between individual conferences and their players) it will continue to be the wild west.

Getting back to JP’s kudos, the atmosphere surrounding college sports and the payments to be allowed to players is just in the very formative stage of how to distribute money and how to enforce with oversight. No one knows where this will end up a year from now. The NCAA has been exposed as a mouthpiece for the corporate entities that televise/stream games, SEC/B10 powers and the agents/attorneys who represent the elite players. Things are changing rapidly ie: just a year ago ISU had players lose eligibility for gambling and now I’m watching JP & MC & other coaches promoting gambling for the Iowa Lottery using the image of Cy on tv commercials! No way JP gets close to that image a year ago. That’s why I say this play for pay door is wide open with no way to predict the end point.

The athletic departments at Iowa and ISU have both been involved with the Iowa Lottery for decades, in numerous ways/forms.

Beer in the stadium absolutely needs to happen sooner than later. I’m not sure why JP has been so hesitant to start this. I go to NCSU games here and they have 2 different branded beers from 2 different local breweries sold in stadium. Plus the regular domestic choices.

Sell Ames Lager and work with a brewery to get a co-branded Cyclone IPA. Make it a session IPA if you’re worried about ABV.

Sit back and profit. The fans are drinking anyway.

Lower alcohol content would help to exorcise some of the fears of sloppy drunks in the stands. Good call.
