The Big 12 isn't much different than it has been the last few years when it was the best conference in the land. The biggest difference is Kansas is down two of the best players money can buy.
Well said.

The Big 12 isn’t any worse than when KU wins the conference with a subjective-call inflated top-10 status, and loses in the first few rounds.

There are several Big 12 teams that can make a run if they get a decent enough seed to avoid one of the top few teams early on.

Any coincidence the Adidas payments stop coming, and KU possibly losing its 14 year run on the title at the same time?

Oh and with regards to De Sousa, the kid in Miami (Dewan Hernandez) took a lot less and the NCAA did not reinstate him, so it would be really hard to explain how they cannot reinstate 1 kid but then turn around and reinstate they other.

The NCAA also said he signed with an agent. This wasn't about the $500 dollars they could prove he had. NCAA also punished him for stuff they couldn't prove.

So in that case, I still think DeSousa doesn't play because NCAA could punish for the alleged payments from Maryland, even if no proof exists of them.

Dangerous precedent to set by the NCAA to punish kids with no hard evidence.

If ISU goes 9-2 the rest of their way, who have they beat in those 9 wins that would raise their profile to a Top 10 team? They have no games remaining against Kansas. You have 1 game left against #16 Texas Tech and a game left against almost ranked Kansas State. So dropping two games means you either lost to the only two decent teams left on your schedule or you lost to at least one, possibly two mediocre to bad teams. Neither of those scenarios gets ISU to Top 10.

ISU would have to run the table to get into the Top 10 at this point. Either that or you need multiple top 10 teams to drop a bunch of stinkers.

Extremely dumb take.

Good lord this KU team is bad.
Bad? No. Not as good as past KU teams? yes. They are just struggling big time on offense especially when Vick isn't hitting a ton of threes.

Adding DeSousa isn't going to fix their offensive issues and adding someone in this late isn't a smooth transition for him or the team.

Look the NCCA does not have any rhyme nor reason on much of what they do.

But when the feds get involved if you have any association with the perpetrator's, especially when it involves kids being sold to the highest bidder, the NCAA is not going to give anyone the benefit of the doubt. Sucks for the kid, but if he plays, then you are still encouraging same kind of behavior from coaches etc.

What needs to happen is the NBA needs to allow the kids to come out of high school, and be drafted maybe add a few more rounds, and either the kid is good enough to play right away, or he goes to the developmental league. There would be signing bonuses, (just like baseball) so that even if the kid goes to the D league he will still be able to cash in some.

Hockey and Baseball have several layers of developmental leagues, NBA needs to follow the same path.. In both baseball and hockey kids can still go to college but the team owns their rights.

Yeah but this is why the NCAA sucks and major conferences need to move on. You can't just have different standards of proof for every case.

Example. Zion Williamson's family was allegedly asking for money. Not a peep about him being sat down until an investigation is done. Deandre Ayton was allegedly paid according to feds.... nothing. This Miami kid allegedly signed with an agent but there is no proof of a contract and NCAA says they were lenient in not just banning him completely.

Too bad they had to pay DeSousa in the first place or they wouldn't be having that problem.

My biggest concern with KU now is they will get bounced from the conference tourney before we get to hang another loss on them. That would be a shame.

I don't care who bounces them. It will be fun to watch whoever it is!!

When talent equalizes, coaching matters. Self is without his customary advantage presently.

You can't be implying that Bill Self is not a good coach? He is still one of the best. Ever since the Adidas info came out, I have lost all respect for KU and him as he is a proven cheater and lying POS, but still a good coach.

If we win our next 4 games, we'll be creeping up on the top 10 as long as a few teams lose, which always seems to happen. Should be favored in all 4, so this scenario is very possible.

Hope KU has fun starting out the tourney in Utah.

I stand by my statement that his major advantage is Adidas not x's and o's. I believe we'll see this play out over the season. And I'm guessing he still has more 5* and McD guys than the rest of the league combined.

Hernandez's violation was also that he entered into an agreement with an agent, which is a bannable offense. He didn't get that suspension just because of the dollar amount.
