I'm pretty sure that's legal on every level as long as it doesn't hit the back of the backboard, shotclock, etc.

Incorrect. I know college hoops down the vertical plane above the backboard is out of bounds.

Doesn't it actually have to touch something out of bounds to be out of bounds? You can save a ball that goes over the plane, why not shoot it as well?

It sounds like it's illegal in NCAA and high school...can't find anything about the NBA. I'm certain that I've seen other shots like this in the NBA, although they let a lot of stuff go any more, including some of the basics. 3 steps, anyone?

Also found that FIBA rules allow this type of shot.

Illegal on a square backboard in high school. Legal for a rounded backboard.

This reminds me. It is really stupid for people to be saying HB is like Kobe. Kobe was significantly better on almost every level at HB's age. Probably the most notable is athleticism. Kobe was the kind of guy who could jump over people. HB, not so much. The only thing I know HB probably beats Kobe at is manipulation.
