As I sit here with a bag of frozen broccoli on my knee I figured I'd survey CF for information on knee injuries.

I felt a popping sensation tonight during men's league basketball on the outside of my knee.

Anyone want to play doctor :wideeyed: and guess if its a sprain or anything tore?

I can bend it and put a little weight on it and kinda hobble around. It doesn't really hurt, but it just feels unstable, and it hurts along the outside if I step wrong. It definatly isn't swelling up.

this sucks.

Right off the bat I could tell you had problems. Never use frozen broccoli!! You have to use frozen peas...they conform to your knee better!

Well, that's good news.

I did get a similar response though to mine. Did it on a Sunday, went into the doctor Monday morning. The person I saw wanted to send me home and schedule the MRI for a week later. HA! I knew there was something significantly wrong with it and asked to be referred immediately to an orthopedic doctor. Had the MRI that same day and the next day found out the results (completely torn ACL and MCL).

I had to fight with the first doc to get that referral to - she was hell-bent on sending me home with directions to ice it and try to stay off it. Crazy...seeing how it was clear something was significantly wrong.

Yours does not sound near that significant. However, if it's not getting noticeably better within the next day or two - get back in there and get an MRI done.

As for the cost, you have insurance (I assume) so they'd pick that bill up...or at least most of it.

If an MRI is needed, see if you can get in at Nydic Open MRI. They have an open MRI machine, not the tunnel thing that you see on TV and movies. You just lie on a table and the machine does it's thing.

Also, I'd highly recommend Dr. Timothy Kenney at the Iowa Orthopedic Center if anyone is ever looking for an orthopedist. He did a great job on my scoping procedure, it's like nothing ever happened to it.

I would recommend Dr Ian Lin at DMOS-great guy. Unfortunately he's a squawkeye fan:sad:

yeah, but peas suck, and I like broccoli. I do have an actual ice pack, but I had already worn through it and moved onto broccoli!
