You are so right about a "Down Year"...HellsBells ...ISU football had 22 straight years of being Down...Hows that for patience?......donnie duncan...jimmy don criner and jimmy dean walden sure werent the answer to our down year.....

I think the poster’s comment was based on Iowa State right now. And I think it’s important to remember that starting at the Texas game, the mood on here regarding Campbell wasn’t great. I don’t think there were many who wanted him fired. But there was a lot of anger.

Only way it hasn't affected recruiting? Campbell strongly reassuring recruits he's not going anywhere.

Duh...Ya Think....You are right on the money Bro. Johnny Wooden would always tell his recruits..."Dont worry I will be here thru your Senior Year....Thats all any coach has to say....

I don't think you can say anger on the Texas loss, more so disappointment. The final score was 24-10 at Texas in front of 102,000 fans. In the 90's that would have been a 70-7 a$$ whopping. CMC is working to get rid of decades of negative thinking and the Texas game was a speed bump in removing that. I'd say a 24-10 Texas win this year will generate more anger...

I’m not saying what the reaction should have been. I’m saying what the reaction was.

I’m saying that the general mood on here towards Campbell wasn’t great starting at the Texas game. It wasn’t a loud call to fire him of course. But it wasn’t a “don’t ever leave us” vibe either.

This is a good reminder that we’ve got to keep our **** together as fans.

What was Meyer's take?
It was what football team has a higher ceiling, Syracuse or ISU. Reggie Bush said ISU and gave supporting reasons. Urban Meyer started laughing and said, Have you been to Ames? It was in a why would anyone pick ISU to have success tone. He then asked Reggie if that was on his schools to visit list and laughed again. I guess if you are on the coasts you are automatically better at football.

I assume Urban has been to Ames, but it would be really rich if he's never been there. This coming from a guy that coached in Utah.

CMC just said this week that the 2019 class is looking as good as any class they've brought in. That was fantastic news. That has to make him feel good about the future...which is good for ISU and CMC sticking around.

I would hate to lose CMC but let's be real here...Tom Manning is the next ISU HC if that happens and depending on where CMC would go (like the NFL where HC's don't get as much say in staff) Manning could end up keeping a majority of the staff in place if not a good share of the staff.

That said, I don't think CMC is going anywhere. I said that about Fred but CMC just feels different. Fred was obsessed by the NBA in way that CMC is not toward the NFL. And I just don't see anybody but a true midwestern blue blood picking CMC away.
