I'm going to say this one last time and then move on. Kelsey loved ISU and her team - she didn't want to leave. In her end of season meeting, CBF indicated he planned to recruit over her and if she stayed, wouldn't play more than ten minutes per game. When that didn't work, he turned up the pressure. The Fennelly faithful who say it was ultimately "her decision" and he didn't non-renew her scholarship are "talking out their @sses". It's a harsh business - for whatever reason, Bill wanted Kelsey elsewhere and he got what he wanted.
Pretty much what I heard. I know some of the extended family members. Outside of her dad, they are a great family, including Kelsey's aunts and uncles, and grandparents.
Fennelly ran her off. And screw Fennelly. Tired, stale coaching staff. I would love a complete makeover.

We already have some posters downplaying the hype for next season and I am 100% convinced the coaches will vote us Big 12 title favorites.

Nice. Hope you are right. And hope that we live up to the expectations.

Isn’t it ultimately her decision? Kind of like her sister staying at OU despite being recruited over and having her minutes cut. She chose to stay because, as you said, she loved where she was at. So now it isn’t like that with Kelsey? Couldn’t she have made the same decision? Talking out both sides here it seems…

If we don't win it the likely excuse will be that Baylor or someone else "cheated" and bought a bunch of players. We won't be able to use the "we are so young" excuse again. Barring injury to one of the big three, not grabbing the title will be a big fail. We have are best roster in forever and the league is historically weak sauce.
Outside of major injuries to key players there shouldn’t be an excuse for finishing in the top three. Baylor is still going to be tough and TCU is portaling/buying their way back in it appears. Would I vote us as favorites…nope. Would I vote us in the top 2-3…yes.

No X 5, but I said it was my last comment on topic and I would move on - I'll keep my word. Since you brought up Aubrey Joens:

Coach Jennie Baranczyk has reportedly "gone out of her way" to assist Aubrey in applying for graduate assistant positions. She's reportedly a finalist for a B1G opening which had over 100 applicants! It appears a player can sit near the end of the bench and still contribute in the eyes of a head coach - one could surmise Jennie actually wanted Aubrey on the OU team, likely to set an example for younger players. I guess the grass was greener for Aubrey, with two conference championships, a sweet 16 appearance and a bright future in the NCAA WBB coaching ranks!

She will definitely get quality minutes. It's a devout catholic pricey private University. (I grew up in Delaware Valley) best wishes to her!

Wow…kind of like how Coach Fennelly has helped numerous players find schools where they could play and pursue grad degrees? And helped former players professionally? I’m so glad you realize that head coaches…including Fennelly…help their players! You need to quit while you’re behind.

You are for sure the Joens family number 1 fan. I'll give you that.

It is obvious that CBF had some issue with Kelsey. He was extremely slow to insert her into a significant role on the team this past year despite the struggles of others. She really seemed to be a last resort. By accounts she was encouraged to leave after the season. We all wish Kelsey good luck. For those outside looking in she seemed to be a great teammate and a productive player. Only those within the program know the true issue. Let’s hope we get another player from the portal that addresses some of the weaknesses we witnessed last year.

If I am being honest, I’m surprised a couple other players didn’t leave.

I'm just going to throw this out there and see where it sticks.

Could CBF actually be trying to rid himself and the program of an overbearing father by encouraging the player to leave? Just a difference angle to the story that i haven't seen mentioned.

I wouldn't think so. If any coach is worried about a players family they wouldn't be a HC.

I personally think they want a smaller rotation and want no temptation to expand it. That's why they are slow playing the portal for the 13th scholarship. Don't think they'll use it at this point.

Bill has dealt with Mr Joens since Ashley joined the program in the summer of 2018, seven years ago. Mr Joens isn't the reason Kelsey left.

If Bill wants next season's team to be a legit conference title contender, he needs to add a starter quality 3 or 4 from the portal, preferably +6' with a 3&D skillset. Or hope that Harris and/or Tanke significantly improve their defense. He won't win a title rolling out Jackson, Hare and Jada W as starters for the entire conference schedule.

Do any others wonder why so many who hate the team post so much? If you don't like it why follow?

I am assuming this post is directed to me.

I don't hate the program and I don't hate Bill, in fact, I highly respect him and I hope that he can win a conference title and make an extended NCAA in his final two seasons. And he has earned the right to leave on his terms (but that doesn't mean he can designate his successor IMO).

And indicating a roster need from the portal to increase the odds of a conference title or expressing frustration with the on-court product at times from my end certainly shouldn't indicate hatred of the program including the staff.

And Bill catered to Ashley her 5 years in the program. Perhaps he wasn't willing to do that with Aubrey and now Kelsey.

I agree with the bolded part but I don't ncessarily think his son will just be handed the keys to the program when Bill retires either. At least I sure hope not, I would hope Pollard does his due diligence and interviews some qualified coaches that already have head coaching experience. If Billy wants this job when Dad retires he really should get his feet wet as a head coach somewhere by now but that probably is not happening.

There are 2 calls Jamie should make even if it results in a "no thanks" response when the time comes: Brenda Freese and Jennie Baranczyk. We may not get serious interest from either but there is no harm in asking. Brenda already has ties to ISU as a former assistant and Jennie is from West Des Moines so we're as close as she is going to get to coming back home for a power conference job other than Iowa which is where I have always assumed she may end up some day. The ISU job should be a very attractive job that draws interests from candidates with head coaching experience and success so I would hope there is a good pool to interview and someone more qualified than Billy is hired.
