Probably should have put it another way but on the other hand it's a chance for the kid to see that sometimes not everyone thinks what you're doing is amazing.

Agree KD needs to take a break from Twitter and wouldn’t be a bad idea to let something from an 8th grader go.

But also, maybe spend your time practicing a move that won’t be called as a travel (correctly) 99% of the time. To KD’s point, it’s about habits. And practicing moves like this is a bad one.

Last, if you want to be an internet sensation then deal with the consequences. Kids own dad bet him $10 he wouldn’t get called. So this was contrived and I’m sure it’s why the camera was out when this happened. You wanted to go viral and you did. As they say “play stupid games, win stupid prizes”.

Unfortunate that you didn’t read the article.

Durant and the others criticizing it sound like a bunch of grouchy old farts. If they don't like it the best thing they can do is ignore it. Their response caused it to reach waaaay more people..

As for the habits comment, cmon. Its a kid goofing off a little at the end of a blowout game. He's not trying it as a game winner. Who cares if he spends a little time messing around trying things out in his own time. It reminds me of fans who get upset when they see ISU players doing something other than practicing on social media mid-season. "Hope they're focusing on the game!" As if they can't have a life and should only eat, sleep, and drill all the time.

KD has never cared to be diplomatic or kind.

There's no need to pile on the kid.

But that was steps.

That's just KD, he doesn't parce words. I didn't think it was that bad at all. It reminds me of the offensive line videos where the tackle basically throws the defender into the quarterback dummy and gets praised for it.

The kid was actually in 6th grade when video was taken.

Maybe KD can go ref some sixth grade games.

Good response from family to a bully. Good reason not to share videos of your kids. Hope he doesn’t see the move my seven year old niece made in rec league. Stopped her dribble to tell her defender her shoe was untied.

To be fair did Durant have the information that it was at the end of a blow out game?

Durant should have stayed away in my opinion but that isn't who he is.

I think the takeaway is the parenting by these parents. They could have pouted with the kid and cried foul but instead they made it a teaching moment. A+

But were her shoes untied? Or was she just trying to get the girl to look and she was going to drive by her?

I actually appreciate KD saying it so kids don't spend all their time practicing that crap after seeing it blow up on social media. I saw the video all weekend a lot (pre KD response) and couldn't believe how popular it was for a missed shot

Actually both shoes were untied. Ref blew the whistle for an official time out and went and tied them himself, as the kid seemed to be struggling with the task. Niece is kind of a superstar, scored 14. Hope they never post video of her on social media. Durant won’t like the unicorn rub on sticker on her face, bad habits and all.
