Looks like Iowa and Iowa State both got it right on passing on Ertz. Here's my overreaction based on week 1, but I don't think this K-State offense improved from last year. Time will tell of course, but I'd be concerned if I was a purple KSU fan.

Their offense is becoming a bit outdated...it's very Paul Rhoads circa 2012-15.

KSUs offense looks pretty bad week one. Ertz hasn't been very comfortable in the pocket. His o-line has been porous, but he's got happy feet. Also surprised KSU hasn't given the RB more carries. Too much zone read with QB's running. I wonder if Bill no longer calls plays, they just don't seem to have much flow.

As bad as KSU's offense has been, their defense looks equally as good. Very fundamentally sound and good gameplan vs Stanford QB making his first start- stack the defensive front with 6 guys on run downs and blitz the safety. Very agressive defense, hopefully we can get some big plays and move the pocket.

Stanford's o-line just gave the Willies a giant middle finger on that play. Think you're in this game??? Ummm, nope.

For years their offense has been completely based around that bizarre QB delayed run. They then run stuff off it like that pop pass. They haven't run it all today apparently because of Ertz's knee. If they can't do it at all this year they are going to have to find a new identity.

When you put the goal line defense out there, you better hit the RB at the line, and I don't care who's back there, much less a guy like McCaffrey.

8 or 9 wins??? Stanford has not shown that they are the number 8 team in the country. They basically refused to throw down field after that touchdown. Yes the d played pretty good but cmon their offense has been garbage.

Those refs were horrendous all the way to the end. Kstate WR's were mugged and thugged out of several plays in the end zone. The worst I have seen is awhile

One thing watching KSU is a Snyder team never makes stupid mistakes.

Eh, they had 8 penalties for 44 yards, even if you think a couple weren't deserved those tend to be stupid mistakes. (including 2 delay of games) They also had 2 interceptions, with a would be third negated by the safety happening first.

They're a solid team and they have beaten us by the slimmest of margins in recent years, but they make plenty of stupid mistakes (like most teams).
