Well I broke down and bought my wife tickets to see Bon Jovi in Kansas City (it's a secret so if you know her, keep it quiet). We'll stay at the Marriott downtown, and the concert's at the Sprint Center. Any recommendations for places to eat down in that area.

Fiorella's Jack Stack in the freight district (across from Union Station, right next to downtown)...it's a very nice BBQ place and they have great prime rib...I've never had anything there I didn't like.

There are quite a few places to eat in the P&L, I personally like Gordon Biersch and the Bristol (seafood)...

I'm telling you though, Jack Stack is the place to go...I've taken numerous out of towners there and they all loved it...and get the Crown Prime Ribs...they're 3 huge ribs that look like dinosaur bones...awesome...

When it comes to BBQ I'm more of a Jack Stack/Gates guy over Arthur Bryants.

If she doesn't mind eating at a Gas Station, try Oklahoma Joe's. I have to go to this place every time I'm in KC.

It's 10 min south of downtown (approx) but its worth every second.

I have eaten at the one in Olathe, it is great, and I hear the original is even better.

Also, if you have the chance, Arthur Bryants is fantastic. Go for lunch to the original.

Jack Stack for sure, not as greasy as Arthur Bryants.

There is a huge Irish bar in the P&L that has live music sometimes.

Go to Gordon Biersch for a few brews before you head back to the hotel.

I had the rib sampler at Jack Stack about a month ago. Lamb, Beef and Pork ribs - amazing.

Anyone know of any good places to go that also have food for vegitarians? My brother & his wife are visiting there later this year and have been vegs for about 6 years - so unless these BBQ restaurants can BBQ some Boca Burgers, they might have some troubles.

Kona Grill on the Plaza... short cab ride. Great sushi, great menu other than sushi, and chicks dig the place.

It seems like every time there is a KC thread everyone recommends one of the BBQ joints. I agree that KC has a lot of good BBQ but there are some other good places as well.

This place has pretty good Italian. They make their pasta fresh and I believe it's owned by some famous cook or something.

Lidia's - KC

I'll suggest another place that I have to go to that isn't BBQ:
Longboards

Best sandwiches around. If you are into MMA, they have a bunch of sandwiches named after famous fighters... But amazing place, check it out sometime

Last time I was in KC I went to a restaurant called Chef Burger. Good Stuff.

If you are in KC and are looking to try something for a burger, I would recommend Five Guys. There are several locations around town. Chef Burger would be easier to get to though if you want to stick close to Power and Light and Sprint Center.

I would also second Oklahoma Joe's or Jack Stack.

One classic that I haven't seen mentioned is Strouds. That place has some great fried chicken.
