KU has lost 7 home games since the start of the big 12 to other big 12 teams. 3 of the 7 losses have been to ISU. Plus KU has only had one 5 game losing streak to a team in the last 50 years and that is also ISU. When it comes to beating KU ISU has held their own just as well if not better then the rest of the big 12.

Thank you, I didn't have all the stat knowledge but i think that pretty much makes us the biggest challenge to Kansas since the B12 started.

You're right. There's no reason to talk sports with a conference opponent. Duly noted for future reference. :jimlad:

ISU fans need to simmer down. Many of you are acting like 11 year olds. Well I guess some probably are.

It's funny how a lot of ISU fans will talk smack to another program, telling them they have no tradition, when our very own tradition is thin at best compared to a lot of others. We're Iowa State. We're not Kansas, Duke, North Carolina, Syracuse, Arizona, etc....

You're right but that's never really what happens. Every time in inevitably turns into a ******* match this time all started actually by one of our guys stating his opinion of them cheating as fact. Very seldom does another fan get on here and it remains civilized.

The whole tradition argument was very poorly thought out by whoever brought that up.

I hate K-State with every part of my being - but we're absolutely gonna get worked tomorrow. K-State should just foul us like crazy because we can't make our free-throws and don't like contact.

The win would be the K-State players, coaches and fans all get explosive diarrhea on the way up and get stranded alongside the road.

That isn't any different then the way KSU has played all year. The pull, push and hack the other team the whole game and see how far they can push it to see what they can get away with. In KC on the 810 radio ketsman (who is a huge KSU fan) has called KSU style of play ugly and bad basketball. The refs back off on calls because they don't want to call too many fouls on one team.

Most college games get over in about 2 hours all KSU games take over 2 1/2 hours. Their style of basketball is just bad to watch. There is a big difference between good defense and the crap that KSU pulls.

I'm tired of being the nice guy and losing. If this isn't about winning basketball games, we might as well be playing D-III. KSU isn't technically cheating, but people talk about how sleazy they are. Who cares? They're winning! We're doing things the "right way" and we're getting creamed. I'm not advocating covering up rapes and murders, but I'm tired of sub .500 that we can say "well, at least they're choir boys".

agree!

Gotta love the "ku beats you a lot" smack from ISU and Nebraska fans.

How was the 36 losses in a row? Way to wear purple. Nice that you guys ripped off the Thundercat Logo too.

Plus - Willie Wildcat is just stupid looking. Why does he have a human body? Again, you guys have always struggled.

Just an FYI to K-State fans.... remember to bring your power towels to the game. Don't forget to do the Willie chant as well while he dances around in his oversized cat head for the amusement of small children.

Someone has to post the most historic video in the history of K-State athletics. :wideeyed:

Haha, I love everybody coming out of the wood work to complain about how sleazy the KSU program is and claiming that they would never accept such a thing at ISU. I have been readying thread after thread the last few weeks ripping the state of our program, and I haven't seen a single poster there claiming that they would happily continue at the level we are at if we continued to have a clean, honorable program.

You guys can puff up your chest and be all holier than thou in front of our KSU guests, but I don't believe for a second that you wouldn't trade places. They are relevent in the league, ranked, getting national pub on ESPN, rocking a great home court, playing tough basketball, pulling in recruits, and their coach has a ton of fire and passion.

Yeah, I would rather win clean than win sleazy. But at this point, beggers can't be choosers.

I have to agree here. They aren't cheating. KSU is using every loophole out there to bring in the best recruits. That isn't cheating. It is using the gray area of the rules to gain an advantage. All schools do it. Except ISU. And guess what? We are getting left behind. Unless the NCAA explicitly bans the practices that are being used, we should use them too.

This is very similar to the Phil Michelson controversy over the past week or so. Is Phil cheating? I say "no". The rule is the rule. He is using a loophole. All other players are welcome to do the same. The only ones who say he is cheating are those who weren't smart enough to do the same.

Wow . . the ends justify the means?

No wonder America is doomed . . lying, cheating, and shading the truth are "normalized" in sports, politics, law, and business. Truly disgusting and sad.

Did I say lie, cheat, and shade the truth? No. I said operate within the rules. If there is something so wrong with what MOST of these schools are doing, then why hasn't the NCAA done anything about it? Until they do, it is perfectly within the rules and we should be doing it as well or we get left in the dust.

Mad, I suppose you think what Phil is doing with his wedge is cheating as well even it is within the rules? By definition, anything within the rules can't be cheating.

Our team's performance is embarrassing enough. Now the people on this message board are sinking to an even lower level by labeling other team's coaches as cheaters with nothing to back up their allegations. I'd say that we have a very angry fan base to stoop to this level.

This thread is one of the most embarrassing I've seen on this site. Agree with everything here.

Hey dudes, K-Stater back again to talk some HOOPS.

To get the discussion started for this weekend's HUGE MATCHUP pitting Hilton Magic vs. The Octagon of Doom Roadshow, I'll ask a simple question:

What will McDermott's plan be to stop or at least slow down Chris "Energy" Merriewether? That'll be the key to the game IMO.

Thoughts??

Guarding people has not been in our game plan this year. We just kind of stand around and hope people miss wide open 3's and dunks...

Is KSU ranked?

If so the answer to your question is irrelavent. ISU will lose. There are no "keys" to this game.

Done against the spirit of the rule and against the rule are two different things. While I may now do what Phil is doing, that does not make it cheating. Very similar to what we KNOW about the KSU situation. At most you can say it is suspicious, just like Tim Floyd, but there is no evidence that you guys saying they cheat can site to prove that there is any sort of cheating going on. I think it is way out of line to come straight out and say they are wihtout a doubt cheating. Suspicious? Maybe. For sure? Not at all.

Love it. Everytime I watch it I can't help but laugh at KSU fans. Probably the most embarrassing marketing on a program ever. LMAO at the Fresh Prince of Manhatten. Not only did he embarrass the hell out of their fan base with this video but he then got over by ripping off their University for over 3 million dollars. God Bless K-State fans. Had I been a K-State fan I would have killed myself about 10 seconds after the first time I saw that video.

Okay, so I revisit this thread and all I see are

  • posts still claiming K-State cheats somehow, with no evidence
  • posts from other ISU fans pointing out the stupidity of the posts claiming K-State cheats
  • posts about wrestling
  • posts about crappy YouTube videos
  • posts reeking of jealosy that KU could beat awful K-State teams at home when ISU couldn't
  • posts filled with self-pity about how awful ISU basketball has become

...yet I still don't see any posts talking Xs and Os regarding stopping Chris Merriewether. What gives??

Not going to happen. We know or should know what type of "team" we are and we wont be stopping anyone.

Nobody cares about ISU basketball anymore.

Nobody cares about KSU basketball or it's legacy of greatness.

Nobody cares about what you have to say.

Should I keep going?

what gives is that merriewether averages 7.1 minutes and less than 2 points a game in the conference...why are you trying to brag about him?

A scrub off the bench is the least of ISU's worries...the real problem will be stopping clemente and pullen.
