Jon Miller, I have some ocean front property in Nebraska that I would like to talk to you about.

I don't know what everyone on here is making such a fuss about. Wouldn't it be sweeter to rub it in after the season? I mean, if they do go undefeated (its possible) there will be a lot of you embarrassed for putting your foot in your mouth.

1. 12-0 isn't too unlikely of happening
2. Did you expect JM to say differently?
3. Isn't this what we expect all hawk fans to predict?

Miller wrote, "I had no intention of picking Iowa to win every game when I sat down to do this. I just think Iowa is close to putting everything together this year."

It's one thing to have the potential to 12-0, and this season seems to shape up favorably. But I would tend to build in some "coulda" moments, and wouldn't predict perfection unless the team looked like it could be nationally dominant (such as, it might be the favorite in a game against anybody in the country).

The thing about Iowa this season, is 9-3 ought to be a minimum expectation (or even 10-2, albeit with a couple of close calls).

I'm hoping the Hawks go 11-1. Because you know where that loss will come ...

The only way the Hawks go 12-0 is if Jess Settles comes out of retirement to strap on some pads and starts busting skulls.

Jon must have decided he needed more hits on his site or something. 12-0 will not happen to a team that should've lost 3 more games than it did last year. They will not have the same good fortune this year.

Iowa will beat OSU, but lose to Michigan. Iowa hasn't beaten both OSU and Michigan in the same season in like 50 years or something.

They will also lose to someone they have no business losing too like Northwestern, ISU, Arizona, etc.

Penn State gets revenge for last year, winning 21-7. This, in addition to the loss against ISU caused by Stanzi trying to tackle with his head and having to sit out the rest of the game causes Iowa to have a 2 loss season. Mark it down.

Okay, Iowa was incredibly lucky not to loose 3 more games last year, including to UNI! I am not saying that their defense is good, because it is, but to go undefeated you need to have some offense, and they are not going to have that. They were very average last year on offense, and this year they have to replace several OL, which is really what makes every offense go. I think they will loose 3 games this year, and based on what they did last year those losses could come from anyone on their schedule except the direction schools they are playing in the non-conference schedule.

I'm glad he said it.

I think the hawks are set up for a year where they underachieve and this will only make it sting a little worse.

I am pretty surprised. I think JM is pretty conservative when it comes to predictions. He put himself out there to get destroyed and I hope it happens.

Jon Miller of HN just picked the Squacks to go 12-0 and play the 12-1 Sooners in the national championship game. I laughed for a couple minutes. Your thoughts?

IMO, this year is Iowa's best chance to play for the NC in 50 yrs. Their schedule is not easy by any means, but their toughest opponents are going to play in Kinnick. They have a lot of quality players, experience and depth. I know Jon is a big homer, but his team really is a threat to run the table this year.

There is no chance of an undefeated season...because the last time I checked they still had ol' Neckbeard Stanzi as a quarterback. Defense wins games, yeah, but you have to score points as well.

The only games they lost last year were games Stanzi either didn't finish or or didn't play in.

Just sayin'.

The Hawks are an outstanding football team. But how he can say this with any type of purported objectivity is pure foolishness. And if the Hawks do play for the national title, I'll be the first one to voluntarily eat crow.
