I wonder if the gambling stuff had not happened where would we be as a program right now. Would Dekkers played well enough to keep his job or would we have problems winning and Rocco takes over at some point? In hindsight I don't think we have the season we.juat did if Rocco doesn't get put in the situation he did the previous season.

He’s always been the type of talent that is going to crush a pro day/ workout style event with his skillset. He frustrated the hell out of me with his reads, precision throws etc. impossible to see if that’s been improved in Juco competition. Wish him the best, he got screwed , but from a football perspective was blessing in disguise for Iowa State.

Yep, we play them. Michaud barely plays for them, but Adams had some huge plays last year. They could give us a tough matchup.
No. If we have trouble w usd turn off the lights on the season

I'm sure we will beat them, but it will be similar to this year's North Dakota game. ISU will struggle to run the ball while South Dakota puts together some time consuming field goal drives.
Struggle to run the ball? I’d like to hope not. The OL just keeps notching up.

But with likely new guys in new spots, who knows?

That said…still not going to be close.

I wonder if Iowa State is allowed to invite Hunter to Pro Day? Obviously there would have to be interest from both sides, but it would be a cool gesture to give Dekkers a chance to show out in front of the scouts that are here for our other guys
He was invited and participated in the Big 12 pro day hosted in Dallas.

South Dakota is very conservative. They are a running team and don't take a lot of shots deep. Similar to Iowa, somewhat. They try to milk the clock. Our defense should hold them under 20 points. Our offense will probably be conservative in this game also.

Are you sure about that? He participated at South Dakota's pro day. I hadn't heard anything about him going to Big 12 pro day.
Positive. Conference was short on QB's to work out for it, so he got the invite. It was the first Thursday or Friday of March Madness. Probably why no one saw it. I think Iowa State had 3 guys, JR singleton, Hufford and not sure who the 3rd was.

Dekkers worked out at South Dakota's pro day, but I can't find any links that say how he did.
I read somewhere that he also got invited to the Big 12 league pro day down in Dallas. Can't find the article right now.

I hope the kid gets his shot, but at the same time he bet on a game that he was rostered for. That one thing is why losing all his NCAA eligibility was absolutely justified. If he hadn't done that then sit him a year and let him play again. 20 y/o kids all make stupid decisions, lord knows I did but I also had to deal with and live with those consequences. Having a cannon for an arm shouldn't exempt him from doing the same.
