I've been saying this for 5+ years, but it showed again tonight. John Higgins crew has always been the most inconsistent crew in college basketball. I'm not saying they are the reason we lost at all, but damn call the game consistently. Tight-loose, I don't care, but keep it consistent. The refs were horrible tonight both ways. Missouri is a hell of a team and we played them to the wire, but it was a pity the game couldn't have been officiated well.

We hack Ratliffe and the next time down the court someone barely grazes Royce and they call a foul? Really?

Scott gets molested and it's clean, Dixon drives completely out of control to the basket and gets bumped and it's a foul. Really?

Great game Clones, we were right there.

SC was getting ******* hacked all game. On the other end they were getting calls just for driving recklessly into the lane.

The sequence that really really bugged me was Royce getting called for that outrageous charge (he made the layup). Immediately on the next possession their PG just charged into the direct middle of the lane completely out of control, loses the ball, and gets a foul called and Mizzou scores 2.

95% of people hate refs regardless of conference or sport.

The other 5% are refs themselves or blind.

You need to keep going in that sequence. After the charge, instead of being up 54-47 and going to the line, they get that ridiculous bail out call after traveling (of course they called Ejim for a travel later in the game on the same type of play) and score, then Scotty gets completely hacked on a drive to the hoop - no call, and then we miss a shot and Missouri scores. Instead of being potentially up 9 or more, it is a 1 point game. Huge swing in momentum at that time. Since Royce picked up a 3rd foul shortly thereafter, I think that is why he became less aggressive going to the hoop for fear of another ridiculous foul.

Otherwise, I really liked how we played and it will be interesting to see how many bruises Scotty has on his arms by Saturday.

NCAA officiating has really been terrible this year--especially in the Big 12.

Actually not THAAAAT bad. I was disappointed in Scotty today and all of the crying for a foul. He was forcing it big time today

I think the 2 that stand out most to me are the 2 calls on Babb to start the half. Very weak calls considering they were hand checking all game with no calls.

There's no such thing as a crew in college basketball.

Awful. Just awful. This crew is always bad. Conference really needs to do something about it.

Yeah really took Babb out of the game after that. The charge calls were bad. Scotty got fouled a couple times too.

We got away with one on Ratliff, that I remember too.

Easier to remember the ones that went against us.:peek:

AGREE, something needs to be done about how to call even thorughout the entire game. I believe the Big 10 teams always do well in the tourny because their conferance refs call most like they tourny refs are instructed to call= big advantage during the tourny. This is the 1 and only area where the Big 10 is way better than the Big XII in

We lose by 6 with Mizzou shooting 14 more free throws than us (making 8 more than us). Officiating was 100% the reason we lost.

Wrong. We lost because we couldn't hit shots down the stretch. The biggest gripe I had with the officiating is that it seems like if you went out of control in transition you could get a blocking foul called, but if you got bumped driving within a half court set they wouldn't call it.

No not 'wrong'.

A game is supposed to be the result of one team and its imperfections against another team it its imperfections. When the refs accentuate one team's imperfections while minimizing another's they completely control the game. When the refs choose to call things differently depending on what end theyre looking at, they control the game. The 'if you didnt play perfect, you can't blame the refs' that some trot out is ridiculous.

The refs were bad tonight, no doubt. But there are so many factors that go into a win or loss that to blame the refs for a loss is insane, in almost any game. There were a lot missed calls that went our way too. We shot too many threes. We couldn't get a good look the last 4 minutes. We stopped going to Royce. We turned the ball over too much. There are thousands of factors to which any given game goes one way or the other. The refs are certainly one factor, but don't win or lose games.

If you are going to call Iowa State for touch fouls call Missouri for touch fouls. My brother is a ref who thinks he knows everything. He defends refs all of the freaking time. And is very, very mad tonight. If he thinks the calls were *********, they were *********.
