Maybe it ratchets up interest for some, but there are probably some like me that find it so ridiculous that I don’t think I can handle watching anything outside of ISU.
There may be some like you, but this was lead story material all day in the sports world, yesterday and continues to be discussed.

This fall, assuming both teams are ranked, can anyone deny that Tuscaloosa is the odds on favorite location for GameDay come October 8? This "feud" is going to be on the lips of sports media leading up to the matchup.

That game is going to do massive ratings.

The game is going to get huge ratings, as this will be marketed like crazy. But it would've had massive ratings anyway. I can see the draw of a big game with bad blood. But the fact that the bad blood is about this stupidity is just too much for me.

I guess we'll see how it plays out, but I see all of the circus around the pay for play like this and the increased turnover of players for pay as maybe concentrating viewership and cannibalizing other viewership, but certainly not grabbing new CFB viewers. For a sporting event to get new viewers, and not cannibalize from other games, it takes a story to not be big in the sports media world, but in the general news. If these clips were played on the general news, no one would know what the hell they were even talking about unless they were already college sports fans following the NIL news.

The amateurism model was ridiculous, but there may not be a college sports model that will work for ISU in the long run, so if/when that happens I won't have interest. I watched college football because I was an ISU fan, not the other way around. Hopefully I'm wrong and it all works out, but if ISU goes back to the dark ages with no hope to dig out, I won't watch CFB. I will have no interest. I never expected ISU to compete for national titles, but they have won some games and fielded competitive teams that belonged on the same field as the big boys. when I was in school in the mid- and late-nineties these were not legitimate power conference teams or rosters. Obviously there is not parity in CFB, but with the reduction in scholarships, expansion of TV, and expansion of TV dollars raising up the bottom programs out of poverty, the ability to compete was enhanced drastically over the past 10-15 years.

I'm not outraged at all this or anything, but it certainly doesn't help my already waning interest. These coaches that have been collecting generational wealth ******** about NIL is too much for me. Jimbo being outraged at someone pointing out the obvious, which is NIL is just boosters buying A&M players, is too much for me.

Duh!
Unbelievable. CFB and its powers can’t get out of their own way. They helped create this mess. It will be ironic if the blue bloods, who have the most to gain in this wild west, drive needed regulation around NIL (and Portal, etc).
