Seems harsh if they cut him based on one bad day in practice. You never know about an organization like Jacksonville.

If you have a practice like that your first time out, you probably deserve to get cut. Sucks because he was really good for us.

Not exactly sure.
The guy, for the most part, was money. How, then on earth, does he miss 3 in warm ups and bulls eye the coach? If I didn't know any better (and I probably don't), I'd say this was setup by either him or his holder. Just odd.
Not their coach. A former coach of the cowboys who was a commentator.

I know their leash is short on kickers but good god, give the guy a shot to get through the afternoon
No kidding. At least see through pre season who’s kicking better? The Jags are a stupid organization. They kept Alan Lazard on the practice squad for 2 years

Kicker might be the hardest position in the NFL to land. There’s only 32 jobs and the good ones careers last forever. Also, if you have a few bad games you’re done.

FG kicking seems to be a lot like golf; some days you’re striping it and the next day you could be terrible.

I know kicking pks in soccer and most shots on goal is a lot like a low iron golf shot, never kicked for fb. People watch pro soccer players and wonder how they so often shoot over the goal, the angle of a three iron is probably too high for most shots on goal.

Agreed.

Unlike kicking in FB, soccer field players rarely kick a stationary ball except on set pieces. Moving and bouncing balls mean you are always kicking from different angles, with either foot and at different elevations. 4 inches difference in placement of the plant foot from the ball can mean the difference between a ball right at the center of the goal and five feet above the cross bar.

Soccer players get a lot of grief about the ridiculous dives in games but the pros are definitely very talented athletes.
