Always like how they were by the same architect. They've even had identical endzone bleachers into the mid 80s before WVU added bowl seating to both endzones. I find it odd that ISU doesn't exceed the 61,500 mark.. does your AD not give out extra tickets/standing room only?

"Pitt Sucks", lol, I had forgotten about the heated rivalry back in the old Big East days.

Interesting that most of your highest attended games happened back in the 80's and 90s and ISU's have been in the last few years. It would seem to me that would be a good indication of the trajectory of the programs over the last few years.

Whenever Sweet Carolina comes on, every wvu fan screams “eat s*it Pitt” instead of “bum bum bum” and “eat s*it, eat s*it, eat s*it” instead of “so good, so good, so good”. It’s one of the funniest things I’ve seen. It’ll come on at the bars in Morgantown and everyone does it, too.

They’re only like an hour apart so they were rivals for a long time. I have friends who went to Pitt and WVU. Both are really fun places, but I’ll definitely give the nod to Pittsburgh.

What's the story behind WVU's hatred for Pitt? Relatively young so I was cognizant of 90s football.
The biggest reason, as far as I know, is Pitt always plays them tough and they’re only 45 minutes apart. In 2007 the Mountaineers were number two and looked like they were going to be playing in the championship game, being 10-1 and number two overall when all they had to do was beat a terrible 2 win Pitt team. Pitt beat them and ruined their shot at a title.

And the awareness of the Fire Marshall and allowable capacity.

WV had a few games ther past 5 years where they eeked out a close win and got my blood boiling. Glad we got payback last year and hope for another.

Only 50 minutes away and long time rival across all sports for well over 100 years. Big city vs country. Steel industry vs Coal industry. They have a massive superiority complex (they're like Minnesota for you mid-westerners) and hate losing to us as much as we hate losing to them.
