With the new construction and hillsides on the NEZ plus the increased season ticket sales... Will the capacity go up? Even getting to 62,000 could be possible.

Just a thought... but WVU's Milan Puskar Stadium has a similar design and capacity as JTS, but they have packed 70,000 in there before in the 90s.

I know Covid may still be a concern this fall, but it would be neat to see how many we could pack in JTS. With the hype for this up coming season I would think this fall would be an opportunity to do so. I bet the UNI game could be 65,000 easily and UI could have 70,000 for sure.

The listed capacity isn't likely to change until JP gets a better feel for what the reconfigured hillsides can hold. Increased season ticket sales won't change the listed capacity.

Junior Cyclone Club passes have been limited to some unpublicized number in the past. The logical thing is to keep that limit for at least 2021, observe how much space is left on the hills, and then adjust as necessary for 2022.

Except that JP has already said otherwise.

I doubt it will change for this year. I’m sure there are a ton of safety/insurance/liability hurdles to clear before increasing capacity.
You don't need people to be in the facility to determine that number though. I'm not going to say it will change this year, but if it does it will likely be this year. It also probably won't be publicized beforehand it will just change.

That said I'm not really sure what they changed that would increase capacity. Maybe just willing to fit more junior cyclone club passes in there due to better viewing angles with the new grading.

He's said that they're going to find out how many people can fit on the hills (i.e., he doesn't know yet), and that it might go above 61,500.

Nothing about changing the listed capacity.

How much space on the hills is allocated to each person? Ability to sit on a blanket or standing shoulder to shoulder?

I wonder if the time will come when they will readjust seat spacing in the bleachers to add spots. It is something that has happened elsewhere. You may be able to push capacity to 66000, but you are reducing the fan experience by doing so

Here. Let me simplify that for you.

If Jamie is saying that we may exceed the listed capacity, the only place to fit more people is on the expanded hillsides.

Thus, by definition, he isn’t limiting it for ‘21.

Therefore…he has said otherwise.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear the first time. Coffee is life.

What I said was that the listed capacity won't change. Your initial claim was that JP said otherwise. He has done no such thing.

Will JP try to fit more than 61,500 in? Most likely. But if he finds a way to shoehorn in another 100-200 people, you're not going to suddenly see the official stadium capacity listed as 61,600 or 61,700. It will have to be a significant number (i.e., 62,000 or more) to make that change.

"Based on ticket sales, I think we're going to have more than 100 percent capacity," Pollard said of the 61,500-seat stadium. "We're going to find out how many people we can fit on those grass hills."

You’re really going for the Dumb emojis.

I initially responded quoting your post in whole, without editing. That you misunderstood my reply was unfortunate for both of us.

That you now choose to stubbornly continue to insist I said something I didn’t after I clarified which portion I was referring to is just. Plain. Buck. Stupid.

They should really DECREASE capacity since people have been falling off the upper deck now.

It warms my heart that peeps are splitting hairs about stadium capacity and trying to wedge more fans in JTS.

A pretty far cry from when fans could claim an entire row of Cyclone Stadium.

Maybe go Wrigley and add seats on top of the press box. Provide a grill and a cooler.

There were plenty of open spaces when I was in college 00-05.
