ISU's "bizarre" 2017 loss at Kansas State was "defining" in a sense for Matt Campbell's Cyclones

I was sad, not mad about the 2015 game. Not sad because I knew Rhoads would be out, but sad for him and the team to go down in such an unnecessary and avoidable way.

I was watching with my dad who's about as cautios as anyone when it comes to all the things that could happen in a football game and even he was like 'Well that's good they got the win' after ISU got the ball back.

I was 'just watch' and then it all happened.

No kidding.. I didn’t expect this thread to be every painful memory as an ISU fan.

At the conclusion of that game, wife and I were heading directly to the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in downtown Papillion... which I generally don't give a rat's pajamas about anyways.

Guess how I felt about going then after that GD loss on the final play? :mccaffery:

K-state was obviously the final nail in Rhoads coffin. The 2nd to last nail in the coffin? Earlier that year not getting the ball centered vs Toledo to win on FG at the gun. Perhaps the kicker preferred that hash/angle? I don't know, but sure seemed like a horrible decision.

I had forgotten about that one.
