I have probably seen the least ISU WBB this season thus far than any of the previous 3 or 4 seasons. I see ISU is young, especially in the post, and Iowa is ranked. Not to mention Ricketts being injured.

What do you all think of the Twister Sisters' chances?

It's going to take a near perfect game to win. That's entirely possible, but it means the posts are going to have to perform. Our guards will need to be hot, the assists will need to flow and above all we will have to play great defense.

Wow - can't believe I'm reading these posts making Iowa out to be this super team. They're not.
Louisville destroyed them by 30, and Arkansas - yes, coached by Jimmydykes - beat them by 10. Arkansas is not ranked people.
Good defensive teams give Iowa trouble. On-the-ball pressure gives Iowa trouble. Louisville again proved that. Arkansas amped up the pressure in the second half and also proved it. If we want to return to being a top 25 program, these are games we need to win. Last year, Hallie shot very poorly, and we still won. Our guards dominated the game. No reason that can't happen again.

Hoks have a freshman named Carly Mohns. She's out of Brodhead, WI. Watched her play for 4 years as a varsity starter in high school. She is a beast. All the people that live where she is from suddenly turned into Hawkeye fans too.

Also, Hoks recruited a girl from the North Woods of Wisconsin. Her name is Megan Gustafson, she is 6'3". Her high school has about 45 kids in it. Let's just say she is the entire team. She led the state in scoring last year and is the favorite for this year. Could get to 3000 points if her team makes a deep playoff run. Just crazy.

Both had offers from ISU too

wouldnt disagree with you. As I mentioned defense and the guards are key pieces. BUT we have to be able to handle Doolittle inside.

Yes, we will have to hold our own inside. Arkansas just killed Iowa on the boards, outrebounding them 51-24.

The St.Mary's lost cost us some votes in the polls. We would be 8-0 and not far off #25 Iowa. But playing St.Mary maybe was a good lesson for us in a loss. Iowa can put up points unless there is a good defense. Our D is good on most counts except around the post. Where, I think Bill has decided to send in helpers to aid Bre leaving us a little more vulnerable to open threes. Iowa guards match up with us well.We slow Doolittle and we have a chance. But Doolittle can block too which I think may hinder Johnson who is one our best options around the basket. ISU at Iowa seems likely to come down to home court intimidation and it is obvious that is the story in recent years. I hate to think but we will have trouble scoring and go down by something like 72-58.

Some inspiration from the 1939 Strawberry Point, Iowa team.. Back in the 6-on-6 days and decades before Iowa or ISU had women's teams. The gal with the ribbon is my mother. Been looking for an excuse to share these.

We have a 33% chance of winning there. Based on nothing, just my gut. I just feel like we could win there about once in three games with the current players.

Would this lock up the Cy-Hawk Series? That could change things. Bill will use it as a tool to motivate. If people stay home to get up for the men's game the next night, it helps. Less home court for them, the better. Also, who calls the game will be key. If EIU's perimeter players are allowed to be "physical", it hurts us. We still don't play that brand of basketball well.

Screw global warming, there was no snow in Strawberry Point in '39?

We're not Arkansas or Louisville. Haven't seen Arkansas playing but Louisville is an extremely physical team. Something that we're not.

How Bludder continues to land top talent baffles me given her results in the tourney.

It's a shame that a player like Logic is at Iowa.

Bludders weave offense is outdated imo. I give BF tons of credit for being able to change things up based on his roster.

Officiating could play a huge role in this game. If it is tightly called, the benches will see lots of minutes.

We do need a win by the MBB or WBB team to wrap up the Cy-Hawk thingy. Would be the first time the "road school" has won. All years so far have gone to the team with the most home contests.

If past is prologue, we customarily suck in IC for some reason. The year we made it to the Sweet Sixteen vs MSU on Lacey's late three pointer we got killed in IC and went on from there and had a great season.

But, that was then and now is now. We are young and, IMO, not very physical. BF knows how to beat them. Whether we have the personnel or the moxie to go in there and get the job done remains to be seen. One thing I know for sure: You have to have GREAT senior leadership. I'll just leave it at that.

Nikki and Brynn will need to keep being active and then some. Their play this year has taken it up a notch. Then I think it has to be a balanced scoring attack. 4-5 in double figures. When they play like that it snowballs. Seanna be Seanna. Love that girl.

I'm not very confident that ISU can win this one.....mainly because it is at Iowa, and ISU does not seem to do well there. I don't think Iowa is a super team, but I do believe they probably have as talented of a team as they have had in years. I just don't think ISU has looked that strong yet this year. The talent is there....but so far the chemistry, or something seems to be missing a bit. Would love to see a win, just not expecting it.

We haven't won there since '06. This is Fennelly's 20th season at ISU - his record against Iowa is 12-6. That suggests there was a year we didn't play. I'm guessing that missed game was a very long time ago.

It was his first season (95-96). ISU hadn't played Iowa since the 91-92 season. When Fennelly was brought on, he made putting Iowa back on the schedule a priority.
