North's winning touchdown came from the college-bound combo of Phillip Bates (Iowa State) to Niles Paul (Nebraska) with 4:41 left before an overflow crowd of 5,800 at Central's Seemann Stadium.
On third-and-9, Paul caught Bates' sprint-out pass at the 10 and took two defenders with him across the goal line.
Viking quarterback Phillip Bates spots a receiver downfield.
"I saw he had his hands up," Bates said. "And with his 210-pound body and 4.4 speed, he's going to get into the end zone."
Said Paul: "Coach Martin said to be a playmaker. Tommy Warren was in the pattern, too, and I didn't know if the pass was for me or Tommy."
Bates also ran for a touchdown, a 5-yarder on a fake field goal play in the third quarter.

Bates will stay comitted:Happy:

Blalock and Stinson werent going to the NBA either.

I justdont have a good felling about him staying a cyclone for very long. I mean, hes a star QB, surroinded by a bunch of Husker commits, plus the fact, as things sit right now, he wont start till his Junior year with Arnaud in front. If he eveen makes it to campus I have a feeling it wont be for long. GOD I HOPE I'M WRONG!
