CFN releases their Big 10 upcoming picks on Wednesday ( a day before the Big XII are put up on their website) - so we get the preview a little early.

Scout.com: Big Ten Fearless Predictions, Sept. 13

Iowa State (2-0) at Iowa (2-0), 12:05 EST Big Ten Network
Why to watch: It doesn’t seem to matter how good or bad the teams are, or how the seasons have started, Iowa State and Iowa always battle in a fun rivalry that’s produced some great showdowns over the last few years. Last season, Iowa started out 2-0 having won its first two games by a combined score of 51-3, and it lost to the Cyclones 15-13.

Agree with most of what was said, except that our running game has been terrific. <3 ypc against Kent State is not terrific.

That's actually a really good write up. I agree with just about everything. Iowa State is going to have to win with special teams and a turnover or two. Meaning, Iowa State is going to have to win as a complete team.

The game also got a mention in FIU's Cavalcade of Whimsy...

Scout.com: Cavalcade of Whimsy - "BCS Busters"

Those who don’t learn from history are forced to repeat the eighth grade … If the past has taught us anything, and it hasn’t, we should go into the rest of the year knowing that …

- Iowa obliterates bad non-conference teams at home in September and then has a nightmare of a time against Iowa State. The Hawkeyes and the Cyclones play this week.

Can someone explain their "Must see rating - 5 'Hole in the wall', 1 'First blood'". Of course, I consider myself a pretty sharp guy, but that metaphor was lost on me.

Can't believe you didn't understand this.^^^

Metaphors are intoxicated penguins shoveling in the wind.

I think it was a reference to Rambo's First Blood (and the assumption you'd really want to watch it), but I typically use "hole in the the wall" to reference good but unheard of places to eat, so from where I stand, it's a terrible way to rate things.

Can't tell if you really don't know or are being sarcastic.

5=must see (good)
1=must miss (bad)

The line for the game amazes me. How is a team that has played two teams that some high schools could probably beat with a new starting QB a 14 point favorite in a rivalry game? If either team (us) wins by more than 10 I'd be suprised.

I think the prediction is right on. The guy obviously has a lot of insight on both teams. I personally think who ever can run the ball and maintain the TOP will win the game. Both teams have good ground games which will make this game a good one. Also the weather will be a factor in the game. I actually think the final score will be. Don't bash me for it.

Iowa 24
ISU 21

I just think ISU's run defense needs to get alot better. If ISU can stop the run and make RICKY throw the ball then the outcome will look like.

ISU 28
Iowa 7

Here is to a great game, I am glad we are actually getting national recognition this year for this great rivalry. I wish a lot more people would pay attention to it, its probably one the best outside of (OSU & MICH, OKLA & TEX)

I like our rivalry as well, but I'm willing to bet these rivalries will debate you on one of the best:
Oregon/OSU
Cal/Stanford
USC/UCLA
USC/Notre Dame
Notre Dame/Boston College
Minnesota/Wisconsin
Purdue/Notre Dame
Michigan/Notre Dame
Missouri/Kansas
Texas/Texas A&M
Florida/Florida St
Florida/Georgia
South Carolina/Clemson
Army/Navy

I really think that you can remove rivalries where there's no real hatred and the people don't have to live together. ND/BC, Mich/ND, Army/Navy, and UCLA/USC where most people there don't care.

To me, the best rivalries are:

1.Alabama/Auburn
2.Michigan/tOSU
3.FL/UGA
4.Oregon/OSU
5.OU/UT
6.ISU/iowa
7.UT/A$M
8.Clems/S.Car
9.UGA/GT
10.Wash/WSU
