If it is Kelly then he should leak it to the press because everyone is expecting a "wow" factor. I can tell you that if it's Kelly then there isn't going to be a big "wow" factor. Most of us haven't even heard about the guy until a couple of weeks ago. I'm not putting down the new coach just saying that he's not exactly a household name.


On the other hand, if he really does have a big name guy then this all makes sense.

You do not conduct coaching hires based on media wow factor. You do it based on your knowledge of the individual and what the can provide for your University and program. KF was not a wow guy and he worked out pretty well for Iowa so far.

I agree with you. If it's Kelly, then great but let people know. We don't want this big production to happen tonight and people expect Pellini, Chizik, etc only to be "disappointed" that it's been Kelly all along.

He is the AD, according to your negative feedback of my posts he is supposed to hire someone who will win and increase season tickets sales to pay for stadium improvements and increase football spending to get to the next level.

So what you are saying is that you need a "wow" factor in order to get excited, unfortunately if you are representative of the Iowa State fan base, you have proven my point about a coach alone not doing what it will take to get us to the "Next Level"

No one is questioning Kelly as a coach. What I'm saying is that you don't get all secret and let fans think you're getting Norm Chow as the coach if it really is Kelly all along.

It's kind of like this.

#1 You promise your kids that you're going to get them something cool for Christmas

#2 The kids all think it's an Ipod and they're cool with that.

#3 The kids mention the Ipod to the parents and they just look at them and say "no one knows what they're going to get and everyone will be surprised".

#4 Suddenly the kids are thinking that they are all getting a new Playstation 3.

#5 On Christmas day they get an Ipod. Nice gift but everyone was a little let down.

i am not fully postitve if the new coach is going to be kelly or chizik, but I have trust in JP. No one thought he was going to get much for a basketball coach and look who we got and our season is looking pretty good with a lot of young kids. I think JP will get who he wants and that person will be good for the program
