Can this staff build and develop a top OL?
Sure, we had a top OL in 2020 with the Fiesta Bowl team. That o-line bullied people. And plenty of those pieces return like Simmons, Remsburg, Hufford. We can be good on the o line next year. Dave Andrews has an awfully important winter and spring for us, need several guys to take a step forward.

What happened to Ramos? There were some pretty heft expectations for him.

I'm still a believer that Myers is the problem not so much Manning

Manning certainly has his faults. His third and short and 4th and short play calling has been really really bad. I just think sometimes he over thinks things and tries to get to cute. The two point play at Baylor comes to mind, as well as those 3rd and 4th down runs against OU. How many times is he going to have us line up and try to out Iowa, Iowa? There is an eff ton of film out there that screams spread them out and attack their zone scheme but he never does it. In the 2nd half against Texas we started running off tackle and it was a thing of beauty. The following week at Tech we go right back to running the ball inside with zero adjustments. I seriously don't get how Manning doesn't pick up on these things.

That’s not a measure of building and developing an OL. Chizik/Rhoads have put OL in the NFL
Didnt bother showing offensive stats, but they were very good. Usually had two runners at or near 1000 each year. etc...... Scoring avg always high. Were Toledo failed was on defense. Lost games 50? to 40? etc.

Averaging 33 per game. I will take that any year. ISU will most often win or lose based on a key play or two each game against good teams. That will not change until we get allot more 4 stars with 5 star culture in my opinion. Buffer for the crap that happens in a game. If you think changing a coach will change the results, I believe you are completely wrong. It's not like individual staff members do their own thing, unguided by CMC. There is a philosophy [the plan] for each position. If a staff member is not getting it done, CMC will make a move. I have no doubts on it. Seen it happen. So have you all.

why do you think defense was bad, well they are on the field 90% of the time offense three and out
1 - Iowa State was number 29 in the country (out of 130) in average time of possession.
2 - Iowa State led the Big 12 in average yards per game (7th in the country in yards per play): how does that equate to a lot of 3 and outs?
3 - That's not how sentences work.

FWIW, Iowa State was last in third down conversion percentage in the Big 12, but was third in fourth down conversion percentage. I'd be curious how the third down breaks down by distance, because that would get at the third and short question better. The fourth down percentage would indicate that his short play calling hasn't been bad, since all of those have been short.

I'm not going to be a huge defender of Manning and I'm not a big fan of his general play-calling style, but I have a hard time criticizing the situational play-calling. Not saying that you do this, but I feel like people often complain about getting too cute in those situations if he does something creative that doesn't work and then people complain about being too predictable if he calls a more conventional play that doesn't work. It's a lot easier to criticize with the benefit of hindsight.

I stand by my original vote in September: a resounding Hel7 yes!

Again, our Defense has played grown man football and our Offense has done nothing to help them. We get the ball on the Clemson 28 after Jake’s interception…and we get zero yards. We need a canning of the Manning- now!
