Is it the Hawkeye, Cyclone, or Little Cyclone State?

The Ames girls just beat the top ranked Linn-Mar and the Ames boys are likely to win State. With Iowa and Iowa State's bad years, could it be said that this is The Little Cyclone State?

Back when I was growing up and Kirk Daddow had a pretty dominant team year in year out the joke was always that Ames High could probably beat Iowa State in football. In fact after the 93 floods destroyed the Ames High sod and they played their games at Jack Trice some said that the more talented team played on friday nights.

Anyway great to see our alma mater do well in basketball. It's been a long time coming and after the scandal with the former coach it's good to see some success.

Awesome- my alma mater, the City High Little Hawks, won the boys' and girls' titles last year, and now my adopted Little Cyclones are about to do the same thing this year! Life is good.
