Through the years, they've done well above average. Watch them tank in the next ten years, and I'll have to work 'til I'm 72.

It freezes all of 2% of the company's assets. You just can't buy/sell that 2%. Unless you're 100% in that 2%, no worries about getting your retirement check.

Read further into the article, and you'll see that this, while significant, is just part of the 18 BILLION that IPERS has in it's coffers.

I want IPERS. I want TIACREFF. I want the state BCBS health coverage, which is basically free. Lord, I made a mistake even going to Iowa State in first place.

High School councilors better be telling kids : "forget college, get a job with the state asap." Private industry cannot compete with what the state and feds are offering. Good for them. Maybe we should be socializing things.......there definitely is becoming a caste system in America....two Americas as John Edwards would say. Those with government benefits and security and those without.

I wouldn't sweat one iota as a state employee.....hell will freeze over before they are denied one iota of the return or benefit they are entitled to. They will print money on the skinned scalps of sacrificial nongovernment serfs if they have to. I just wish I was entitled. I am entitled to work until I am 70.....good thing I like what I do.
