QB - Arnaud (If Stanzi played the whole game like he did in the 2nd half it would be closer)
RB - ISU (I would take our Robinson over Iowa's Robinson any day)
WR - ISU (Just as deep as Iowa and just as experienced, I like ISUs speed)
TE - Iowa (Moeaki has the potential to really hurt us if we don't keep a man on him all game)
OL - Iowa (But man-oh-man did they look horrible in the 1st half against UNI)

DL - Iowa (the amount of holding calls on UNI should be a warning for our OLine this week)
LB - Iowa
DB - ISU (Iowa gave up almost 300 yds passing to UNI, ISU allowed 178)

Close game that I think ISU needs to get into a shootout for the win.

my point was you are trying to make an argument for a guy who has never even caught a pass in college. :biglaugh:

he MIGHT end up being better, the same, or worse. You just cant argue until he can get open or catch the ball.

I don't think Keenan will end up being a bust, but if he does, at least it wont be for stupid **** like Douglas and James Cleveland. I don't know how to find this sort of thing, but I don't think the number of true freshmen elected to Iowa's leadership council is very high. The only way I could see him being a bust is if he gets injured, because he has size, speed, leaping ability, soft hands, etc, etc.

A thought on this...there weren't any holding calls at all in the first half, and then 4 or 5 in the 2nd.

QB-I will take Arnaud
RB-Please, ISU owns this
WR-I think ISU has 4-5 guys to throw the ball to at all times
OL- I would have said far and away Iowa, but they didn't perform well saturday. Push
TE-Franklin-ISU

DL-Iowa
LB-Iowa
CB- Almost a push but I like LJ, Banks, and Benton
S-Iowa is better all around, but I htink Sims may be the best player on the field when he is in the game. He could be a game changer(judging from just one game)

K-ISU
P-ISU
Return-ISU

On this we agree. This hype machine is getting old and is meaningless until there is substance to back it up.

6 catches in his first game, not too bad. Plus a weapon passing the ball and that will open up the reverse for him.

QB: ISU, Stanzi's played well in some big games but its to be seen how he plays when he is carrying the O.
RB: ISU, but I have a feeling we may get a touch of Wegher and Brinson who are unknowns.
WR: ISU, Its closer than I would like to admit, ISU's are more prevalent in the offense and will get more opportunities.
OL: Iowa, I like our O-Line, but Bulaga and Calloway are going to give us fits, we may need to blitz to get pressure with these guys holding down the ends
TE: Iowa, Moekai when healthy is an NFL TE, Reisner is no slouch. I like Franklin but a healthy Moekai IMO is better

DL: Iowa, I was encouraged by the fact that Iowa did not get a whole lot of pressure on Grace. That could be huge. They can stop the up the gut pro form run, but we'll see.

LB: Iowa, This is the strength of their D, With us going 3-4 wide they will likely have to drop a LB. Edds will likely shadow Franklin and Angerer will likely shadow Arnaud. Both are very good but will be doing things somewhat out of the ordinary for them.

DB: Push, The loss of Bernstine and suspension of Prater makes their CBs suspect, even though Spievey is a stud. They will likely have to throw in a nickelback. Sash is a playmaker and we need to be wary of him as I could see him making some gamechanging plays. With Bernstine and Prater the advantage is to Iowa, but with LJ, Banks, Smith, Sims, Benton, McDowell, etc. I think we'll be good to go.

QB - Arnaud was one of the most impressive quarterbacks i watched over the weekend and i'm just impressed with everything he does on/off the field. Stanzi is good but i believe that Austen is a special player.

RB - I love our backs this year, don't know a lot about Iowa's but from what i've heard about them i'll take state.

WR - It is closer than most of us will admit but i do think our recievers compliment each other well if they don't drop as many balls. I'll take ISU at this point.

TE - Yeah, Iowa gets the edge here mostly because the tightend is a huge part of their offense. IMO, Franklin is just as good if not better but isn't as prevalent in our offense as Moekai is in Iowa's.

OL - I like what i saw from our line last week but until proven otherwise i'll take iowa's line.

DL - Iowa's line can't be worse than ours so they get the edge here by default.

LB - Was somewhat pleasantly surprised by our backers but they are TOO SLOW, Iowa's go sideline to sideline so much better.

Secondary - I think our secondary is made to look worse b/c of our poor linebacker coverage. That said iowa's secondary looked horrendous last week and ours looked alright, especially sims. I'll take the cyclones here.

Special Teams - This position is so much better for us than last year, especially our coverage on punts and kickoffs. It was unbelievable how much better we looked. Iowa definitely has some good players here, especially at punter but i'll take the Cyclones here again.

Overall this game is going to be very very good. I'm cautiously optimistic and with my cyclones glasses on i'm predicting a close victory but then again our front seven on defense scares me a lot and could lose us this game. I'll go with Iowa State - 27
Iowa - 24

Same song, different year. Every Iowa recruit is always great....... until they aren't. Then there are a million reasons why they were different than the current crop.

Leadership counsel? So a group who has been collectively arrested as much as the Iowa football team elects somebody and it's supposed to demonstrate something positive? Maybe they were the only ones who stayed out of trouble, so it was election by default.

First: I don't want to compare "units" with any Iowa fans...

Second: I don't know who will win this game but one thing is for sure: Iowa is no powerhouse. If ISU loses, then its because we are just that bad. However, I'm thinking that there are going to be some upset Hawkeyes this weekend. As a matter of fact, I think that ISU is going to shock a lot of folks this year now that we are rid of Chizik.

If there was one position that I think most ISU fans would want to trade with Iowa would be DLine. If this was the case I feel ISU would be heavily favored.

For Iowa I would have to guess RB would be the the position to swap. In this scenario would Iowa be as heavily favored as ISU with the Iowa's Dline?

Good luck to you guys Saturday. So lets compare units.

QB Toss-up, both are good - adavantage Iowa State why? Look how flat Stanzi was - I think Austin is a better leader and a better comander on the field NOT as a Iowa State fan just as a personal perception from last year. He can scramble and will run..over all a better talented QB.
RB Iowa, Hawks have a lot of depth - They do??? Look at the injury list, O'Meara sucks and Robinson will be the starter :jimlad:
OL Iowa, too much talent on Iowa's Oline I can state O-Line did protect the QB and did not cause him to run errratic and make under and overthrown passes...Looks like Iowa has a new Tom Brady:jimlad:
WR Iowa, Hawks have loads of talent and depth - Please..Moeaki and he is a TE ONLY was proven, Did you forget the Iowa State Recievers, Money Reynolds (JR), Sedrick Johnson (SO), Marquis Hamilton (RSr), Darius Darks (SO)...Advantage Iowa State...
TE Iowa, enough said Enough Said...you did not say anything...Explain why..if Moeaki, well maybe...I agree Iowa here

DL Iowa, Iowa State gave up 200 plus yards rushing against the Bison And the hawks could not keep the UNI team out of the endzone giving up points and lastly...played flat - Admit the Big ten will suck this year...
LB Iowa, Hawks once again stacked at LB - I can go for that...what was the yards after touch that you gave up and all the missed tackles?
DB Toss-up lean Iowa. Cyclones gave up a lot of yards last year. LAST YEAR.......DUHHHHH this is this year we are not comparing last year to this year

Special teams Iowa State

What are your thoughts?

Stanzi more accurate than Arnaud? Did you watch the first half of the Iowa v. UNI game? He was getting booed by his own fans because he missed 3-4 wide open deep balls.

The guy can't throw a go route to save his life. Get real. You Hawk fans NEVER cease to amaze me.

Really????? Guy throws a very good deep ball. Just ask PSU or Minn. Did you miss the throw to chaney that got called back? That was just an ignorant comment bud.

Cannot wait for this game to be over...

Johnson is a better RB than anything Iowa has right now

QB's are a push.

Moeaki is the biggest pass threat for either team.

Honestly, what are all the comparisons for?

NDSU looked to have a better RB than ISU, Iowa, or UNI. ISU had an effective offense when moving and Iowa's defense gave up 1 TD that could probably be credited to a turnover leaving them with bad field position.

Is the point to see who can prove that, regardless of who actually wins the game, the real winner is the team who's fans can argue have a better unit-to-unit comparison?

QB- Very slight advantage to ISU.
RB- ISU.
WR- ISU
OL- Iowa
TE- Iowa

DL- Iowa
DE- Iowa
LB- Iowa
CB- Push. Spievey is the best on the field but ISU has the better 1-2 punch
S- Push. Sash is the best on the field but ISU has the better 1-2 punch

Special Teams
Slight ISU. Kickers and Punters are a push but ISU has better return game

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking, good post 85.

Couple things. ISU fans are saying iowa fans dont understand how close the TE position is. Well you Iowa st fans dont realize how close the WR position is. Iowa is just as talented and just as deep, if not more so. And you also dont realize how good reisner is as a TE. TE is a HUGE advantage for Iowa. Also, not sure how it being a home game gives iowa state's punter an advantage?
Iowa State's Receivers have proven themselves more then Iowa's. Also, Iowa fans don't realize how good Franklin is, not quite as good as Moeaki but it is close. And finally, he gets an advantage punting at Jack Trice because of how the stadium is set up, its different punting their then in a bowl.
