Not to rain on any parades, and i'm sure plenty of posters have voiced this, but how are any of you getting excited about this game? I love Iowa State. I love college football. I'll watch and cheer hard for the Cyclones. But these games have never been less interesting or valued. No way I would make the trip to Orlando. Might as well save that cash for March trips that mean something.
I was super envious watching K State enjoy this meme bowl last year and I'm thrilled to be in it this year.

In my opinion, this is one of only 2 non-CFP bowls that I'd still be excited about. The other being the Duke's Mayo Bowl.

I absolutely love the bowl games that are embracing the fun, wild, and quirkiness that makes college athletics so much more fun than the pros.

There is zero prestige/respect left for any bowl outside of the playoff, so we might as well all try to have some fun. I was absolutely hoping we'd get this bid instead of the Alamo.

1) if all you care about is a postseason slot in the playoffs, then ISU might not make much of a splash

2) you sound like a Chiefs guy to me

Can you please find where I said all I care about is a playoff slot?

I think the playoffs kind of suck too. That and the mega conferences have added to a diluted regular season.

And not a 'Chiefs guy'.

Maybe read a little harder next time before making **** up.

This is the same bowl game we got absolutely embarrassed by Notre Dame and physically dominated by Clemson the worst Clemson team in Dabo's last 15 years??

Not trying to be a downer here, but how is this one going to be close??

I've moved on to the current free agency period and basketball season.. Our next real game to prepare for is in Dublin against Purple Kansas

I like the matchup, but What's the deal with us playing "nearly" (or actual) home games for the other team in bowl games?

Playing Memphis in Memphis (twice)
Playing Boise in Boise
Playing Rutgers in Yankee Stadium (1-2 hours away)
Playing Tulsa in Memphis (~5 hours away)
Playing Alabama in Shreveport (this is more of a stretch, ~ 6 hours away)
Playing Miami in Orlando (~ 4 hours away)

Any others?

(oh, and I believe 5 of those 6 were losses :( )

Time to lobby for a Minneapolis bowl game, apparently. Against the SEC.

Don't watch. You already said it's just a scrimmage. Don't watch.

Spring games are scrimmages - I'd watch that. Why wouldn't I watch a scrimmage?

What I won't do is what I did for the championship game in Dallas. I won't spend ~$800 on a good seat, hotel, flight to cheer them on in person. I'm not disparaging those who do choose to do that.

Arguably, you shouldn’t do that anyways in this era.

Traveling to these games is mostly spending on yourself. In this era, even just spending half that on the program is better (for the program), assuming one must choose.

Instead of spending $800 to go, I’d rather write We Will a check for $400, thereby increasing the odds of success, all while watching from the comforts of my living room and not disrupting my schedule for days.

College athletics in pay to play era.

That said, not even the professional leagues have neutral site games on short notice outside the SB. Bowl games should just become sponsored +1 games, with the location being at one of the universities.

Are we the home team or the away team for this?
Not sure exactly how this Bowl determines it. IF they rotate year to year who is the home team, last year the Big 12 (K-State) was the home team and the ACC (NC State) was the road team.

Some bowls I think may do it by CFP ranking and in this case we are the lower ranked team so would think would be the road team.

So in summary guess what I'm saying is I THINK we will be in the road uniforms.

I would like to add the Alamo Bowl to that list. I'd never been to San Antonio until earlier in November for an unrelated football trip. The river walk was beautiful and Id enjoy seeing it filled with Cardinal and Gold.

While I know we can't get the invite, I'd like to go to the Bahamas Bowl too. That just looks like an absolute party.
