It’s been a bummer week for Cyclone fans so I thought I’d share some positive news:
Watched Milan Momcilovic and his brother Lucca play in the Wisconsin Div. 2 state championship game tonight against Austin and Myles Herro (brothers of NBA player Tyler).

In short, we are getting a stud. At 6’8, Milan can shoot the 3, hit turn around jumpers, finish at the rim, very smooth, very skilled. Good rebounder. Has a great handle, can lead the break, and make the right pass. Hits FTs. Average to good defender. Patient player, positive court demeanor.
Same build and game as Grady Dicck. Don’t know if his skill will translate like Grady’s game did to the Big12, but this kid is the real deal.

BTW, Milan’s Pewaukee team won its third title in a row. Milan finished with an easy 29 points. You guys want TJ to add scorers— Momcilovic will score at the wing in Cardinal and Gold.

Milan is getting overshadowed by Omaha for obvious reasons.. But those two should be dynamic for us from the jump. Sleeper recruit: Kayden Fish.

Everyone needs to realize the word commitment doesn't apply to college athletics anymore unless it's applied to the participant in regard to themselves. Thank you society and NCAA.
Players know they are in a temporary relationship. I'll miss guys like Niang.

Omaha and Milan aren’t like most freshman. The key will be getting some vets to come in and take all the pressure off them. Not having team’s best defenders guard those freshman will open them up for a lot of early success.
I would agree about Omaha. He is physically a Big 12 ready player and skilled ball handler for a 6'7" kid. But agree it's best if he can be 3rd/4th option in half court offense.

Momcilovic is a great shooter and ball handler, but it will be interesting if he is Big12 ready from a physicality standpoint. In limited game action, I don't see an explosive player. So it might take time for him to build up his body to play starter minutes. I'd be happy if he is a 15mpg/7ppg kid as a frosh.

It actually wouldn't surprise me if Hamilton doesn't surprise. As a guard he might have easiest adjustment from HS to P6 competition.

Milan's limitations will be seen on the defensive end. That is why I think TJ is going to relax this all or nothing defensive insistence.

Still stress it.......but not make it a priority to play or sit. Because you can't bench someone who might give up 10 easy on one end.....but give you 25 on the other. We will see.

Kinda agree, TJ didn't expect everyone to play like Gabe on the defensive end but that's not to say he doesn't expect the same effort.

Can we pay him NIL not to come back? I love his energy but having a 5 that is limited offensively and shoots less then 50% from the line is a no go for me.
Most backup 5’s in the country are limited. Rob is honestly no worse than most backup centers in the country his biggest issue is that his usage is wayyyy too high. Osun was so hot and cold this year which caused Rob to have to play more than he should’ve, and then of course we ended up seeing him step into Osun’s starting spot to end the year.

I’d love Jones back as my backup center. He’s going to outwork almost every guy on the court. I just don’t want him to start and he has to get better from the line.

That’s fair.

Jones was better this year than last year and I would expect Jones work ethic will make him a better low post player in 2023/24. He is a solid backup center.

With the loss of guys like Gabe, Jaren, Kunc and Osun- we need a core group of team leaders that understand the discipline and hard work it takes to be an elite defensive team. Guys like Jones, King, Lipsey and Williams are going to be critical in establishing TJ's culture.

It's my understanding that Jones needs next year to graduate. He was a true victom of covid year.

Definitely in agreement with the poster who said Fish will be a sleeper recruit. I’m extremely excited for him. His game is just fun to watch.

Sign me up for a downgrade in defense to get a lot better offensive production!!

2022/23 Duke is around 50th in offense and around 20th in defense

Versus

2022/23 Iowa State is > 100 on offense and top around 5th in defense
And they’re both watching the rest of the tourney from home.
