Honestly I'd like to see ISU do more of what it did with UNLV/Tulane.
If we have to give up a home and home to schedule these G5-level teams, make it games in places that our players and fans can enjoy attending. Absolutely no one who isn't an alum or has family in the area is looking forward to a game in Ohio.
On another note, I wonder how long before NIL will come into play in nonconference scheduling. We're already seeing tournaments with NIL payouts in basketball, could see some venues setting up neutral site nonconference games with NIL payouts.
One of the MAC schools in Ohio isn't a bad choice if you can't get some "destination" (and how many of those are there really...?) G5 in cities like Las Vegas, New Orleans, or Nashville. You're also hamstrung by the fact most of those "destinations" are southerly and thus very hot in August and September when we play nonconference games. They're nice winter destinations for bowl games, but by the time they cool down in October and November we're into the teeth of the Big 12 schedule and that's that. We're not the SEC.
Why Ohio? Very much in Campbell's recruiting wheelhouse.
Better than Arkansas on those grounds alone.
