Cross country championship canceled last fall is back on again Monday. Both ISU teams are, of course, in the meet.

Weird timing since indoors are going on right now. Cyclone Wesley Kiptoo won the indoor 5000 meter. Not sure if he is also running cross country Monday or not but think he is running both.

Just not the ideal time of year for that meet for Midwesterners like Cailie Logue who was our big 12 meet medalist. Seems a pretty big advantage to the southern teams.

Kiptoo is, indeed, running XC Nats on Monday and is the favorite to win. It’ll be an incredible achievement if he’s able to follow up his Indoor 5k title with a XC title. I have a hunch he’s going to get it done.

BTW, it’s nice to see some running talk on this board. Martin Smith (and Pollard) have built a really solid T&F/XC program at ISU so it’s fun to see them get some recognition.

ESPN just gave a spotlight to two players, a gal for the Gophers and our Wesley Kiptoo. :)

Cailie Logue shoutout in the women's race preview and noting she's run the course before and obviously done well here.

And it's windy as heck down there in Okie land.

Only one ISU runner, Cailie, in the top 100 at 1.6K. :(

Edit: 3k and Cailie right in the lead pack of 15 or so now.

Edit 2: Cailie 7th at 4K. +1.2 seconds

Edit 3: Cailie was right in the lead group and than I lost track of her. Almost wondering if she had to drop out. Didn't see her in the top 20 across.

Looks like she finished 126(98) and ended up being our second finisher.

Too bad for Cailie. I was really hoping for at least a Top 10 finish for her today, and she was there until late in the race when a LOT of top girls fell off. Some days, it just doesn’t work out but she’s been one of the all time greats at ISU.

She must have had to just jog in after 4k. Hope she's okay.

She was 7th at 4k and slid to 10th at 5k. Absolutely heartbreaking to be that close and fall that hard.

Collectively the team ran well. They were ranked 24th (took 25th) and would have been 18th had Logue held on.

Looking over the results I noticed Amanda Vestri listed at 71. I remembered the name for ISU and looked, yep, she was from NY and transferred to Syracuse to compete. She was their lone runner. Would have been nice to have her in the ISU results too. That would have dropped 96 pts and we would have finished 18th.

Looks like the men will finish 8th. Top 10 at least. Kiptoo fell to 3rd overall.

That was some really great racing today on both the Men’s and the Women’s side. Kiptoo gave it a go but he had to be feeling Friday’s 5k. It’ll be interesting to see he and Mantz battle again next year.

Another solid year for both ISU squads.

Yeah, I think it's a little different going back-to-back 5k and 10k on a track compared to following up with a 10k on a hilly course in the wind.

Yep, she left when coach McDonough got a new position. Also, sitting in 45th is Ballard grad Abby Kohut-Jackson, just missing all american. And mckenzie yanek of pleasant valley was 78th while Camille Jackson of Ames took 100th
