One popular projection of a bowl possibility for the Cyclones is the insight bowl with the opponent maybe Minn., but cbs sports.com has put ISU back in that wonderful and popular of all bowls, the Indepence bowl!! Our projected opponent would be South Carolina. This was released yesterday, the 17th.

I don't understand all the hate for the Independence Bowl. The game is on ESPN2 and there will be a SEC team there this year for sure. The payout is similar to the Insight and that game is on NFL Network, which basically cuts the exposure in half our team will get.

Obviously, Phoenix>>>Shreveport but for a bowl game, I have no problem with it. Especially not this year. For the most part, if you play in a bowl less than the Alamo it really doesn't matter much.

I agree, just thought I could stir things up a bit, with how excited everyone is to go back to Shreveport!!
I think people will be more excited to go to the Insight.com bowl because it is in Phoenix and has a better payout.

I think ISU fans are just a little Shreveported-out. Nothing against the game itself.

Once you've been to the town of Shreveport twice, you pretty much had your fill for a lifetime

Iowa getting to the Alamo bowl a few years back at 6-6 told me all I need to know about bowls. Its all about who you are, and at this point we aren't much. I see any bowl even detroit and boise as a success for ISU as we have to climb further uphill than almost any other program to get to one and the powers that be are gonna keep trying to keep us down. Its an extra month of practice and an extra month of talking about Cyclone football. If someday the college football world decides to bestow a good bowl location on us...well, that's gravy.

Too early to know. Thanksgiving weekend may not even help. We may need to know the result of the Big 12 Title game unless Oklahoma State wins out.

We've decided we are pretty much going irregardless of location. That said, I'd prefer Phoenix to Shreveport.

But let's make sure we win this weekend, that's really all I care about right now. Bowl games can be sorted out after all is said is done. Still two weeks left to sort things out.

The problem is the last time we went to thet INDY bowl... we got screwed bigtime. We played a horrible team instead of a quality SEC team.

The atmosphere vs Alabama was soooo much better than Miami Ohio

no, the screw job was the call of the kick not being good against alabama. ruined my trip. miami, while not SEC was a pretty good team that year with an NFL QB. It was a very good win. One reason it wasn't as good of atmosphere is not as many cyclone fans came and almost no miami fans there.

Miami was not a good team. They failed to beat a BCS school that year.

Josh Betts played in the NFL? Exactly my point about the crowd... playing that crappy team killed the atmosphere because they brought about 3 people.
