I can't even begin to think how hard it must be to put these schedules together.
Guessing they use a software company like the NFL does. Can put all these different scheduling "rules" in and then the computer spits it out.

Here is a video on how the NFL schedule is made. It's a interesting watch if you are into that type of stuff:

I think you could say the "elite" tier in the B1G is tOSU, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, and USC. You could debate a couple more teams, but for the most part that's the group. In five years they have 11 games against those teams, so about 2 games per year. That's about what I expected. What Iowa does benefit from is having 3 protected rivals, all of which are current west division teams. Guaranteeing 1/3 of your conference games to be against former west division teams is a good way to start every schedule for Iowa.

Iowa is the luckiest team in the history if EVER!!!

What a joke, they get to get to play at least 4 Big 10 West games and never have more than 3 hard games in a season... Almost everyone has 4 in a season

2024: Ohio State, Washington that is it..
2025: USC, Oregon, PSU
2026: Michigan, Wash, OSU (Hardest season)
2027: Oregon, Mich, USC
2028: PSU, USC (What a joke this season is)

Let's compare to Wisconsin:

2024: USC, Oregon, PSU
2025: Mich, Oregon, Wash, and OSU (BRUTAL)
2026: PSU, USC
2027: USC, PSU
2028: Mich, OSU, Oregon
That’s still tougher than they currently have. Each year they’re looking at a minimum of 3-4 conference losses (and that’s assuming there’s no slip ups where they should win) which is more than they are experiencing now.

Don’t sleep on next year. At OSU and Wash at home should be losses (not sure if Penix is back or not). They won’t be favored against Wisconsin at home or @UCLA. And don’t sleep on the road game at Maryland (not sure if Tua’s bro is back or not). If we can steal one at Kinnick they’re realistically looking at 6 losses.

Not sure what some people are expecting from the schedule. I didn't look beyond 2024 (because who is a good/bad team can change), but it looks like the Big10 tried to balance out schedule difficulty. It appears teams are each playing 4-5 Top 25 teams. Beyond that, its a crap shoot at how good middle tier teams will be in trying to project SOS.

2024 Big10 Schedule (Top 25 Games??)
Iowa: Ohio State, UCLA, Wisconsin, Washington
Minnesota: Michigan, UCLA, Wisconsin, Penn State, USC (5 Top 25??)
Wisconsin: USC, Oregon, Penn State (3 Top 25??)
Nebraska: Ohio State, USC, UCLA, Wisconsin
Purdue: Ohio State, Wisconsin, Oregon, Penn State
Penn State: USC, Wisconsin, Ohio State, UCLA, Washington (5 Top 25??)
Maryland: Oregon, Penn State, USC (3 Top 25??)

Oregon: Michigan, UCLA, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Washington (5 Top 25??)

I wouldn't count UCLA or Wisconsin in the "tough games" column yet. I do think Wisky will get there, but they're a ways away. UCLA has been erratic as ****.

Washington and Iowa play in 2024. One also plays Oregon, Penn St, @Mich @UCLA and @USC. The other plays Maryland, Mich St, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern..

Guess who has 4-5 games against the "elites: and who has 2

Some tough matchups in there. Unquestionably tougher than any opponent ISU will face in the new Big 12. How the turntables have turned.
Lol holy tiny penis syndrome, batman. You played the crappiest, easiest schedule ever for years, never won any game of significance even with said horrible schedule, and are now trying to play big balls about your schedule? Bold.

Now I really hope that Luke Fickell is a smashing success at Wisconsin. That'd screw the Hawks over for several years to come.

I would agree the top in the B1G is tougher - but that will make for 2-3 games most years. I'd say the Big 12 is more even top to bottom. Iowa should still get 8-9 freebies a year. Iowa State isn't in a position to take any game for granted, but most of the Big 12 schedule would be equivelant to Iowa's 3rd hardest game, but every week.
